No, Dak was CLEARLY not the problem....and we still only managed 8-8 in a poor division.

It's not that he's the problem, it's that his demands inhibit our flexibility and overcome the weaknesses.

If we go deep into the playoffs in 2020 it will mean that MM has improved the all round team and unless Dak has a 2018 season he can write his own check as we wont need to spend in free agency.

Thanks, I have. Here it is.

Dak's record as a starter in 4 years is:

    41 (including a play-off game)
    26 (including two play-off games)

15778 yrds passing - avg 3944.5 per season
    97 TDs - avg 24.25 per season
    36 INT - avg 9 per season
97 QB rating for four years.

    No missed time from injuries

Now here is the problem I have with the blind hate gang. They state Dak had help his first year when it was 13-3. He gets no credit for not tossing interceptions. He gave the ball away 4 times through the air and 3 times dropping the ball.

Yet this same crew who blasts him and think the team should just let him walk also believes the 2019 season was all his fault. Even though the Dallas Cowboys were ranked 4th in dropped passes with 24.

Consistency is the name of the game. Both with Dak and the people who despise him.

You cannot have it both ways. And one might bring up the point of Zeke's suspension which had an affect in the 2017 season.

I do not believe Dak has shown enough. But I also believe the same argument that was tossed out about Romo and no defense has applied here during the Dak tenure.

My opinion is the people who are so volatile about Dak ignore some positives which, in my mind, at least begs for another season under center.

And as a caveat, Dak and the team lost a play-off game to Green Bay on a flat out lucky pass by Rodgers in the last seconds to win. That was clearly on the defense. But not in the minds of the people who are grousing about a player that is still young and coming of age.

Your examples are weak at best. Tannehill wasn't castoff he was trade for and his replacement was far from a rookie QB. Quinn was part of not having enough money to sign everyone this off season. Last season he had 11.5 sacks which I think put him 8th in sacks. Hardy a castoff.

Again even if the Cowboys were delusional enough to rather go with Dalton who really is a castoff, over Prescott, as I said before Dalton will need another contract and if the Cowboys did go that route, Dalton's agent isn't going to settle for a measly 3 mil contract again. It will be at there very least in the middle of the pack for starting QB around the 15 mil range or 5 times more than last season's. Then again because it's the Dallas Cowboys with more prestige he may say it will cost 18 to 20 mil. This for a real castoff QB Oh and I hope if the Cowboys draft another QB he doesn't turn out to be a bust, but if that does happen then Dalton's deal for 2022 just went up again. So the price for a castoff QB keeps going up and the castoff isn't anywhere close to being as good as Prescott. Then there will be all the fans squawking about why when the Cowboys had a good QB that they let him get away and went with the castoff has been Dalton who is grossly over paid.

Yes, Tannehill was replaced by an unproven rookie. Just like you said Dalton was. I'm just using the same example. I also agree with you that Dalton's price would go up because other teams that need a QB will probably pay more than 3 million. I think Dalton is a starting QB in the NFL. I don't think he's as good as Dak, mainly because of Dak's ability to take off and straight arm people into the dirt. But I think he'll do fine if our OL holds up with the weapons we have. Any decent QB would. A rookie QB is a wildcard, I agree. But 37.7 million a year isn't.

Your lack of reading comprehension is appalling, but I guess I should of expected a answer like it from a low grade moron with a reading problem.

Wasn't meant as a end all just trying to educate a clueless Dak groupie on garbage time stats. I do not have a issue with Dak, I have the issue with over paying for him and the cost to support him , I am also on record in saying I believe Dak will be signed. Again can't sign someone who will not sign. Jerry has boxed himself in the corner so Dak will be here and the same sad results will just keep happening.

the Question is does the Journeyman, start for me for 2 years, contract hold at 25 mill a year as it was 2 years ago or does it go up. Because if your going to pay Andy Dalton (or any Andy Dalton type) QB 28 mill for 2 years congrats you just saved yourself 6 to 7 mill a year and that's not enough to get the defense up enough to cover the difference in QB play..... Andy will turn the Ball over almost twice as much as Dak does based of his last couple of years... of course at 20 mill a year Andy looks a lot better. Jacoby Brissett makes 28 mill and is an ufa next season, again these numbers are crazy your not getting a decent QB for 20 million, you can get a gamble on a one year show me deal maybe...there's a reason its a gamble

    How do we replace Dak?
Jerry/Stephen comes down with the COVID-19 virus. Purposely high-five players, feigning the spontaneity of the moment.
    Players come down with COVID-19.
    Backups have to play.
    1-15.
    Hello, Trevor Lawrence!

P.S., Don't think it's too far-fetched. The Patriots have already got a jumpstart on this scheme. ;)

It is very simple, Dak had 4 years , and did a mediocre job results wise for the most valuable franchise in the world with elite. OL /RB/WR . 1-2 in the playoffs and 1-6 against Playoff teams last year is terrible for a team like the cowboys . The stats look good , but let us be realistic , the NFL offenses are all producing good stats as the system supports the offense and protects the QB . Excuses abound about the reason Dak under performed: Garrett , the defense etc etc . And while these may have been factors, nevertheless, Dak has not ascended and has not taken the team to the next level . 2020 is crucial as he has to prove it , now that his salary is an absolute burden on a team that has more pressing needs .

    Simple plan:

1)2020 ; Dak starts , If he gets the team to the SB or CCG , then by all means pay him 35-37 mil a year . if no Super Bowl or CCG , or if he plays mediocre , then :

a)do not offer an exclusive tag , only non exclusive and if he clears.
    b) look to trade him if there are takers.
    c) if not. let him walk , save the cap to improve the team , especially the D.

    2)2021 ; Start Dalton

    a) try our DeNucci as well.

    b) look into trades for seasoned QBs: some that may be available include : Watson, Rivers, Newton, Mayfield etc

When there is a will , there is a way .

Trailing is not garbage time you scrub. Garbage time is in the 4th with no chance of winning the game slinging it all over the field. This means typically down 3 or more scores and into the 4th quarter. Dak last season was 16th in total pass attempts in "garbage time".

At this point I'm not sure what we're arguing about. If we get a decent deal with Dak and don't lose our players, fine. I'm just giving an alternative to not being able to pay Dak. I'm not paying Dak 15-20% of our Salcap under any circumstances. He's not Payton Manning anymore than I am Godzilla. So it's a catch 22. And they they had a damn hard time catching him!

Theres a difference between Lawrence and the dudes that were there after Burrow this year.

Off the top of my head, I cant think of many teams that would deal the pick as opposed to picking Lawrence.

Cincinnati would be one. Probably Miami.

Obviously teams like KC, but that's moot.

Detroit and Washington would draft Lawrence in a second if they land the top pick and would barely listen to offers, nor should they.

I don't think we are arguing about anything, we are looking at options and how they may turn out, the only difference of opinion we have is if Dak is worth the 15-20% and if that is what quality starting QB's earn...Structure solves a lot of this and I would be surprised if they can't agree on a structure that works unless McCarthy doesn't want Dak and if that's the case i will back the HC decision. Agree on 22 in my book he is the GOAT!!
