You think the Jets are kicking themselves?

They brought miles in and might could have had him for a 2. The real question is would Jerry have taken it? I bet most of us would have jumped all over it at the time.

It was a huge topic of discussion at the time. Several of us were opposed to giving up Miles for a #2.

Yep, especially since they gave up draft picks to acquire Braylon Edwards.

And yes, I am saying Miles Austin is just as good as Braylon Edwards.

Most of who? I wouldnt' have been one for sure and plenty wouldn't have either. Maybe 50-50 split at best there. If Austin didn't get injured a lot lastyear, he probably would have been much more proven by now, than he is now. In pre-season last year, he was starting to show a lot of promise before injury.

Second, Jerry would have matched the offer as long as it wasn't outrageous. Jets wouldn't have done that to unproven WR.

It could've helped us, though. They probably would've offered him a nice but still reasonable contract, and we could have just matched it. The way he's playing now, it will probably cost us a lot more.

Wasn't there a rumor that Romo may have gone to the Jets at one point? I think it was prior to the 06 season.

Denver wanted Romo but he decided to stay in Dallas. :)

from what I heard, and this may not even be correct, is that the jets did not offer Mr. Yac (Austin) a contract bc Jerry Jones made it 100% clear to them that he would match any offer.

True... but I think that Miles should be paid for the production he's given us this season. Pay the man! :)

Couldn't they have poison-pilled us? Or have the owner colluded to not use them anymore?

Man, im happy they past on Miles. I also think that Ogletree will benefit from the early PT. Seems like we're pretty set at Wideout for a while. Roy, Miles and i think Ogletree will eventually take over for Crayton. Seems like he has already past Hurd on the Depth Chart.

I dont think our scouts get enough credit, we've been able to find real talent in late round and free agency. THink of all the players we drfted late or signed as a free agent. Ratlif, Miles, Tony, Choice, Barber, Scandrick we've had a lot of success in the later rounds.

The Jets offered a third for Tony Romo and we said no thanks.

Sean Payton also inquired about Romo when he went to New Orleans and was rebuffed. He had to "settle" for Drew Brees in free agency.

I'm sure they're kicking themselves for not pulling that trigger and we should be thanking a higher power for them not doing so. We dangled him out there. Shame on us (in retrospect of course).

I'm just glad Sam Hurd no longer gets on the field at WR. Hurd is a fine 5th WR/STer, but he should never see the field as a WR unless there is an injury.

Agreed. I'll take Miles precise route running and consistent hands over Braylon's size and vert.
