Bad or Unlucky?

1st rd pick, Morris Claiborne: has caught the injury bug

2nd rd pick, TRADED AWAY

3rd pick, Tyrone Crawford: Out for the year

4th rd picks, Wilber & Johnson: JAG and China Doll

5th rd pick, Danny Coale: CUT

6th rd pick, James Hana: rotational player, nothing special

7th rd pick, Caleb McSurdy: CUT

It was a terrible waste of ressources and mostly stupid selections. I never liked that draft class.

People are saying Hanna yet the Cowboys were not impressed enough to pass on another tight end the following year. Hanna has not been all-world, he's probably top 3 most overrated players on this site right now b/c he "looks like novachek when he catches & runs."

Yea, or it literally means "its too early".. because its literally only been one year.

But keep whining.. as usual.

:)

That's too funny. How much longer do you need to see the truth? Or does sticking your head in the ground and pretending all's great make you feel better.

You don't need more time to realize this draft was a mess. But if it makes you feel better, it's too early.

Those same posters are still giddy. I don't understand why they are still that way, but I didn't understand why they were giddy when this collection of players was drafted to begin with. When the trade took place to draft Mo, giddy couldn't be used to describe my feelings at that moment or any moment afterwards.

I never understood why people were so excited on CZ that day. We had an opportunity to stay put and build the trenches or even move back, attain an extra pick and still draft decastro or zeitler. instead we've suffered thru a season of bernie and livings and we still had an atrocious pass defense with claiborne. morris better have a great year this season and he better stop playing/tackling so tentatively. he's already been outplayed by the corner in st louis and green bay.

It's been 3 years already?

I don't believe in the 3 year rule and neither does the NFL.

I don't need 3 years to determine that we're getting the bare minimum out of our picks after the 3rd round in this draft. Nobody is going to convince me that Wilber or Johnson need 3 years to determine if they can play. NFL teams make cuts all the time before those 3 years. Marvin Austin basically got a year before the Giants cut their losses w/ their former 2nd round pick yesterday.

The Escobar pick definitely makes Hanna less of a factor. Or Hanna ends up making Escobar a wasted pick. It one or the other.

I hated that draft the moment we wasted our first two picks on the cornerback. I'm not surprised it's looking so bad right now.

Thy didn't have to go oline at all in the first and there was still some very good oline talent all the way the late third round. Players like Cordy Glenn and Osemele was there in the second and would have provided a massive upgrade on the line. A quality line could have been built in that draft alone if a team was wanting to fix the problem.

yes they are...not sure what that means. the cowboys always hold on to their picks to the bitter end.

It means it seems like the NFL agrees more with the 3 year rule than you'd like us all to believe.

Marvin Austin is an extremely rare case for the Giants third rounders and up are most likely to play out their contract for the giants. We kept Sinorice Moss, Ramses Barden, Travis Beckem for their entire rookie contract.

From the looks of things, Hanna's upside is probably what we got out of Phillips. You know even if he out plays Escobar, his draft status will always weigh in his favor. From the way things are breaking, it is a one player draft and even Claiborne is not exactly a sure thing.

I know... Looks like a very weak draft, even if Claiborne is a pro bowler

James Hana is a starter, which is pretty notable for a 6th round pick, and Claiborne should be ready to start week 1.

I think a couple of years from now Claiborne Hanna and Crawford will start for us.

When did Hanna beat out Witten? Unless I missed something, he is a backup. Was Marty B a starter here?

It's been 3 years already?

Rookies are expected to contribute immediately now. The 3 year rule doesn't really apply anymore, since most rookie contracts are 3 years. I think it's still early to tell, but we should have a good idea where we stand with these guys after this year.

This "three year rule" is crap, what else gets a pass like that? It should be a constant evaluation. Things are not looking great for that class and if you are pinning you hopes for it on an undrafted guy with bad kness, that is a terrible sign.

Hanna is fine, you don't expect great things out of 6th rounder. Claiborne and Crawford will be fine too, but we'll just have to see with the rest.
