I know there have been many great moments in Cowboy history. What is everyone's all-time best moment as a Dallas Cowboys fan, the one moment that shines above all the rest?

There are a lot of contenders but right now, mine is Super Bowl 27 when Irvin scored the TD right before halftime to make the score 28-10.

When the TD was called back against San Fran(Jerry Rice) on way to SB27... changed the complexion of the game... we go on to win whereas if he scored that quick we looked like we might go flat...

Great subject for a thread. When this subject comes up, I always think of the moment I was MOST proud to be a Cowboy fan. In fact, it fits right in line with the moment you mentioned.

The moment you mentioned was great, but I was still pretty nervous about the game because Buffalo had just had the greatest comeback in playoff history a few weeks before against the Oilers. So at halftime I was still wound pretty tight.

Well, the halftime show with Michael Jackson went on forever, so the nervousness continued to build inside me. Finally, right before the teams were set to kick off the 2nd half, NBC went to the reporters covering the 2 teams' dressing rooms. Tod Christiansen was covering the Boys' lockerroom.

What happened next, I'll never forget. Bob Costas, who was the studio host, asked Tod how the Boys felt. Tod said as they were waiting for the halftime festivities to end, he asked Jimmy Johnson whether he was concerned about the Bills coming from behind in light of their recent, historic comeback against Houston and the fact that the Bills' back-up QB, Frank Reich, (who led their comeback against Houston), was in the game. Tod then looked directly in the camera and said, "Jimmy looked at me and said...Tod, WE AREN'T HOUSTON!"

I was so pumped, I could hardly stand it! To me that was my proudest moment in 40+ years of following the Boys. Jimmy was the master motivater!

I will give you 3(sorry)

The game where Emmitt played with "one arm". Any true Cowboys fan knows what game I am talking about. That performance sent chills down my spine, and still does when I think of it. That game sent EMMITT from great to LEGENDARY.

#2
Alvin Harper's catch and long run in the NFC Championship game for Super Bowl 27.

#3
I forget what year(in the 80's) but it was a MNF game against the skins(@RFK I believe) and the 'Boys were down 27-3, or something like that,at the half. The 'Boys storm back to win 31-30.

1974 game against the Skins on Thanksgiving. I was 13 or 14 and was with my folks at my Uncles in Glens Falls, NY. I had bet him a quarter on the winners of the game. He just wanted the Cowboys to lose.

Staubach out with a concusssion and Clint Longley leads us back, including a 60 some odd yard bomb to Drew Pearson with 30 odd seconds left in the game.

I still have that quarter.

Not a playoff game or superbowl, just the most remembered moment in my Cowboys watching history.

The Slant to Harper to seal the game against the Niners. Great clutch play.

And even though I was young... The Hail Mary has to be way up there. ;)

I've told the story before of the last conversation I had with my Grandma before she passed away. I promised her we were going to draft Troy Aikman and win 2 more Super Bowls. The night we won Super Bowl XXVIII and I went out on my balcony to share that moment with her.

December 1979.

Commanders.

Texas Stadium.

Last game of the season.

Losing by 13 points late in the 4th quarter, Captain Comeback threw two touchdown passes in the last two minutes of the game to beat Washington 35-34.

What a game. :toast:

i'm gonna take the "it only counts if you were there" approach, since that eliminates a lot of obvious answers...

....for me, being in texas stadium when emmitt broke the rushing record. it sucks we lost the game, but there was magic and electricity in texas stadium that day.

it was amazing to witness it.

- Various moments during SB 27 probably top the list: Jimmie Jones TD after Haley sacks Kelly, Irvin's back to back TDs, Ken Norton stuffing the Bills RB (Kenneth Davis?)...

- There are no substitutes for SB victories, but the slant to Harper against the Niners was surreal.

- The "Emmitt Game" against the Giants (especially since I was there).

Other more recent memories that definitely had me jumping out of my seat:

-Aikman to Rocket in a big comeback against the Skins (1999?)
-Quincy (yes I said it) to AB for the miraculous comeback against the Giants (I live in Giants country)
-Julius Jones' TD against the Seahawks on Monday night (I needed a ridiculous amount of fantasy football points from him to win my playoff game and he did it as he won an incredibly exciting game for the Cowboys!) I couldn't stop smiling after that one!
-Roy Williams' picking off McNabb for the game-winner!

The greatest moment for me personally was the first time I stepped foot in Texas Stadium for my first game. I'll never forget it...

Oh yes, a very great moment indeed! Ranks as one of my all-time favs, followed very closey by Butch Johnson's diving end zone catch in SB XII.

...but

I have to go with The Drive by Emmitt in SB XXVIII. I was in total awe of his abilities. Wasnt even cheering, just sat there shaking my head in disbelief. Saying to myself, "Unstoppable".

Winning that first Superbowl after so many heartbreaking losses in championship games, including the loss to the Colts where the refs simply gave the Colts the game. After all the weeping and gnashing of teeth following expected wins that became losses, I had sort of let up on my emotions so as not to be too disappointed if they lost, but when they won, I felt immensely elated anyway. What a sense of relief to finally cast off the "can't win the big one" label. I basked in the glory of it for weeks.

The first SB by the "Triplets," which was the first one I was at least old enough to remember. Man, what a great feeling I had after that game.

1 - The totally domination of the Packers for that 8-9 game run in the 90's. That was complete mastery because when you come right down to it, that pack team was just as good if not a whole lot better then anyother team we played.

2 - Pack, again. When we kicked all those FG's to win that one game, including the one right at the end to set the single game FG record, and Reggie Whites' inturn charging of Switzer and Irvin jumping in the preacher man's face to stop him after he thought we were running up the score on them. Then perhaps not on national TV, but on local GB, Reggie cried, litterally, tears running down his face and everything. It was such a sweet moment seeing us bring someone that great down to his knees through frustration.

3 - Alvin's catch in the Championship game and inturn slam-dunking over the FG post! Then I loved how he just kept on running out down through the tunnel - the fork was in, this game was over!

4 - Emmitt's game against NYG with his shoulder. I mean come on, that was heart of a champion if I've ever seen a demonstration in my life. He made everyone of us personally stronger seeing one of our own heros do that.

5 - 3x Aikman's Super Bowl Mastery. Did that guy know how to play a big game or what?!

6 - Irvin's first down strike, each and everytime he knelt forward and pointed! Oh gawd, it sends chills down my spine even still to this day.

7 - 40 years from now when I have memories and stories this great to ramble on about to grandchildren and anybody else who will listen. By which time, we should be known as the, Universe's Team.

And really, I could go on and on and on and on, the Dallas Cowboys have filled my life with memories. But hey, the same for all of us, that's what you get for picking the greatest team to ever grace any kind of sport as your team.

A lot of great responses guys. Another one was the 1987 OT game versus the Patriots. When Walker scored the winning td on a 60 yard run, my neighbors all heard me screaming.
