People are too consumed with the 1 technique being an all pro player. We're probably set with defensive line depending on how they develop.

We need to focus the draft on the secondary next year, and outside of that, the team really doesn't have any holes.

Backup qb and maybe rb in next years draft.

Yes, for a DT but need draft more for the secondary IMO. If one of the young DT steps ups that is.

I suspect people will be pretty surprised by Ken Bishop at the 1T. He does exactly what the team needs and wants at 1T and could be a surprise player. If Whaley can give the team good snaps as the b/u 3T I think DT will be more than adequate.

And with a better pass rush from the DE's, this will help the DT's as well as the secondary.
I am looking forward to see how Whaley does.
Coleman, Bishop and Whaley,,and even add Gardner as a DE, will be interesting to see their progress.

We have some nice DEs. One we know is legit and two others who are nice prospects. Our DT group is horrible.

DT group isn't horrible either.

Crawford - Potential pro bowl caliber DT
Hayden - Steady player
McClain - flashed a lot of talent last year but wasn't healthy
Whaley - Very interesting prospect
Bishop/Coleman - Also interesting prospects

The reality a lot of these defensive ends can move inside and crawford can move to the 1 in certain situations. You're over thinking this. The 1 technique is a 2 down player and doesn't need to be an all star.

Huge issues at DT if you have to wax poetic about the virtues of guys like Nick Hayden, Terrell McClain, Chris Whaley, Ken Bishop and Davon Coleman.

The DT position needs to be upgraded, but "Huge issues"? I understand Hayden being a jag, but how can you honestly evaluate the Dline position, when McClain played hurt most of all last season, and Whaley and Coleman were not even active. Bishop got into the rotation in the playoffs, and did make some plays. And you conveniently left out Crawford, who surely even you would say is a young, talented player.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for solid play.

If Crawford goes down... Oh boy...

That too. Cowboys could not rush passer, cover, stop run, get off field.

The Packers and Lions played week 17 for the division. In that game, despite Rodgers missing much of it, the Packers had just 39 fewer yards and scored 4 more points. Are you really going to say the Lions defense sucked last year, or maybe... just maybe... the Packers were really good?

McClain has yet to be a good player in his career and was already let go by 3 different teams before us. And Bishop, Whaley, and Coleman were all 7th/UDFA for a reason. I'm not saying 1 or 2 can't be solid for us next year, but to sit here and act like you know what these players are is pretty insane if you ask me. There's being a homer and there's talking about Terrell McClain like he's a good NFL player....

We have Crawford and then a hope and prayer at DT right now. I'm hoping that the unexpected retirement of Brent gets us to at least being in a vet to compete in camp.

The Lions D is really good, are you really trying to compare last years Cowboys D to the best Run stopping D in the league? While our D improved .last season from year before, Cowboys still struggled to stop run consistently especially at end of games. We were also assisted in this stat because it was even easier for teams to throw on us. The D played hard, but D was buoyed by offense keeping D off field and D's ability to generate turnovers. Not trying to undermine our D, just being honest.

I didn't think they ran the ball to well but oh well I'm not smart and don't know much about anything

Did not mean to offend, but look beyond the stats and recall that in the 2nd half Cowboys D could not get Packers off the field and while they bottled up Lacy (and Rodgers) in the first half he picked up chunks of yards at will at the end of the game.
