YouTube TV and Disney battle

If you live anywhere close enough to get cable/fiber/etc there is over the air antenna access for locals. Now if your only option is something like "Starlink" then you have a great point. In general, for the mass U.S. population everyone should be able to receive ABC/NBC/CBS over the air for free. That's the way the main networks are designed.
It ain't going to last much longer. See my post on the previous page.

Oh, I'll "steal" from the world's biggest thieves...

Think about this. Dig deeper. Who is stealing from who?

It's not like you're stealing from honest, hard working people. That's what these network corporations are doing..
All corporations behave like a psycho path. I will never be a corporate brand fanboy for this reason alone. Every corporation, even if it starts off benevolent, will eventually become malignant towards the customers.

Good luck with that. My buddy had DirecTV stream and they tripled his price after his contract. That's how they get ya. All of these streaming services are bait and hook. It was nice (cheap prices) while it lasted.
I don’t have a contract, we will see what happens in the future.

There is no contract with DIRECTV streaming. You get a discount on the first month and then the price goes up but that’s well spelled out when you pick the package you want. It is the most expensive streaming option out there I believe.

Buddy had a contract from when it first came out. They raised his monthly substantially after it was over. I think he started at like $55 and they raised it to $170 for the same package he had as an early adopter. I think he got hosed but it sounds like it is just expensive overall. I personally don't watch enough TV to justify $170/mo. If I can get the locals and watch YouTube, I'm good. Just pay the internet bill.

How much are you paying? What do you watch to justify the payment (w/e it is)? Do you pay that and another Internet bill? I am just curious.

My package is $124.99/month excluding taxes and such. It comes with Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu. My YTTV was $109 and rising excluding the above mentioned. We do pay for fiber internet but that comes out of the companies account. They gave me all the movie channels for free for 3 months then I will cancel those since they can be found elsewhere like Prime, Paramount+, etc which I already had. They also gave me two free Gemini Air devices with remotes.

Yea, it is a bit more expensive but I like the old school feel of regular cable like Comcast, DTV, etc.

There are some local cable carriers in certain cities that haven't had Fox for years now.

I live in an area where we have NEVER been able to get a over-the-air signal. But the amplified antenna I bought today works great! It only cost me forty bucks!

Hopefully, it works for you!
I live near the base of a mountain. Haven’t been able to get an OTA signal since they killed Analog. Great views though.

Only if you live fairly close to the broadcasting channel.
.....and don't live in an apartment complex like I do. I don't have the open access needed for an antenna, and like the OP, I have Youtube TV as well. They beat us out of the monday night football broadcast on ESPN and ABC. That's definitely not the kind of carp I pay for, but I'm stuck with it for now.

Anyone who uses YouTube TV, like myself, as of now won't be getting Monday night football until the dispute is settled.

Just got the following email....

In order to deliver a wide variety of sports, news, and entertainment programming on YouTube TV, we enter into agreements with network partners. Each time we renew our contracts with these partners, we advocate for fair pricing and greater flexibility to offer our subscribers the best possible live TV experience. Our current agreement with Disney has approached its renewal date, and we will not agree to terms that disadvantage our members while benefiting Disney’s own live TV products. Despite our best efforts, we have not been able to reach a fair deal, and starting today, October 30, 2025, Disney programming will not be available on YouTube TV. This means you will no longer be able to watch channels like ABC and ESPN or access recordings from these networks in your Library.

We know how disruptive it is to lose channels you enjoy, which is why it’s our goal to bring Disney content back to YouTube TV. We’re committed to continuing to work with Disney to reach an agreement, but if their content is unavailable for an extended period of time, we’ll offer our subscribers a $20 credit.

You can continue to watch Disney’s sports programming by signing up for ESPN directly. For more information on the impact to our 4K Plus and Spanish Plus add-ons, please visit our Help Center.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to advocate on behalf of our subscribers and work towards a new agreement with Disney. We will continue to update our Help Center with the latest. As always, family managers have the ability to cancel anytime.

We appreciate your YouTube TV membership.

Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team
It’s annoying that a company with almost $100BB on hand is even sweating this. They’ll pay out $200MM with their $20 per subscriber credit and will gain zero goodwill from it. No ESPN and no major local channel (ABC) and people will either:

1. Suck it up and deal with the content they no longer carry.

2. Pay an extra $30/month to get an additional package to replace what yttv no longer carries

3. Dump yttv and go with cable, DTV streaming, etc., which is what I plan to do unless they get this settled within the next week.

They should just buy a controlling interest in Disney. They can afford it.

My mom has directv and I was shocked to find that the local Fox isn't even on her guide anymore. They had numerous disputes with each other over the years, but I guess this means they've totally given up. And for that to be the channel the Cowboys are usually on? Crazy.

He must’ve had DIRECTV satellite and not the streaming service.

Hulu might be a good alternative for you.
