With everyone shuffling their support for Murray and Romo as league MVP. I place my bet with Zach Martin, who without his overnight transformation of OL would not have allowed Murray and Romo to have career years. Lets be honest, Murray is same guy who's best year was 1,121 yards. Romo is same guy who had poor record in elimination games for his career. So what happend?

Dallas got lucky. Really lucky. Dallas was targeting in draft Ryan Shazier LB (who btw was injured most of year for Pitts and was not given starting job back). Jerry also was considering Manziel. Collectively they decided on Zach Martin. Performing like a 10 year veteran from day 1, the entire OL looked different. Linehan too one look at this group and knew this would be running team in 2014. Now Leary ability to pull was also big factor in line success but it was ultimately Martin pick that solidified the line into better ones in league and catapulted this team into playoffs. On sunday we get to watch power on power with Martin matchup with Suh. Sometimes it just best to be lucky.

I agree. Everything changed once he arrived.

Martin was the key addition this year. But it's a big step from 'key addition' to most valuable player. Martin is very good - but he's not Larry Allen. HIM I would be willing to consider for team MVP.

I was with you until you uttered the dreaded "elimination game".

Martin won't get the MVP, but there's a very good chance he makes the Associated Press All-Pro Team. No rookie guard has ever received that honor in the 70 years that the team has been named.

Zach Martin is far from a perfect lineman, and that's okay! The fact that he's played the level he did his rookie season is incredible knowing he's still going to improve.

It's tough to really pinpoint the best OL when they work together like they have this entire season. Smith is still our best lineman, I think, then I'd go with Free and Frederick.

Actually, Murray averaged 5.2 YPA in 2013. The difference between 1200 yards and 1800 is play calling. The difference between 8-8 and 12-4 is adhering to a ground-based offensive philosophy and an improvement in defense. Take Tony Romo off this team and I bet it doesn't win six games.

We hit a home run drafting Martin!

But Let's see now
What would cost us the most wins...
Losing Murray?
Losing Romo?
Losing Dez?
Or losing Zack Martin

Good grief

I agree it's no a simple feat that a rookie OL that too guard has been selected to pro bowl and considered all-pro team by many , but all the success for the running game can't be attributed to just Martin ,guard play was one of the many inconsistent things in the line last year , it was a rotating committee at RG waters,Bernard , etc and that was the weak link in the whole OL and OL is like a chain only as strong as the weakest link . With Martin it has become not only strong , perhaps the strongest link , LOL

No it's not.

This offense would have failed in 2013. It isn't just the YPC number that is important/impressive. It's the total number of totes.

You'd think that'd be obvious, but I guess not.

Martin is outstanding and is already one of my favorite players in the league.
But MVP of the entire team? That's preposterous

While Martin has been a tremendous addition, especially since we actually took him.... instead of Manziel (thank god for that) I've argued that Hitchens has been almost as equally important defensively.

If you think he is the MVP, that is fine... but you should learn to spell his name correctly.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Martin play against Arizona but Romo did not. Didn't the offense lay an egg that game?

Had Martin been out and Weeden played for him at RG.... Weeden's stats wouldn't have been much different. He couldn't have completed many fewer passes from RG.

that was because they didn't trust the OL. Without room & time to operate...Murray is on sideline with pulled hammy and Romo is getting 3rd procedure. The impact of OL is so dramatic that every team in the division is scrambling to adopt Dallas philosophy of building it.
