gotta give credit to Bradie James as well. He chimed in with 6 tackles (5 solo), a sack and a defended pass. Adding Zach Thomas has taken pressure off of James. He doesn't have to carry the load. His numbers may be down from this point last year, but overall, the interior LBs are doing way better than what we had last season. I'm glad we picked up Thomas.

2007: James/Ayodele: 84 tackles (54 solo), 2 sacks
2008: James/Thomas: 98 tackles (71 solo), 3 sacks, 4 PDef

Zach is 2 tackles shy of what Akin had in the entire season last year. Also, has 5 more solo tackles. Sounds good to me.

I was pleased with the entire defense. Guys maintained their responsibilities not running around chasing plays and over running them. This will not show up in individual stats but guys doing their job not free lancing is what playing team defense is all about. All in all this was the best defensive showing in a long time and I was very impressed with our very young secondary and the job they did.

I loved seeing him on the sidelines cheering the defense on, as Bucs were driving down the field at the end of the game.

Keep it up Zach, we need that kind of enthusiasm and fire from the defense from here on out.
