Good bet this extension is announced Friday evening, an hour or 2 after the NFL announces their decision on Zeke.

I honestly hope not. I want a fair contract for both parties. I don't understand why the Cowboys are obligated in paying him the highest pay for his position.

Unfortunately I think that's how it works. Hes the best at his position and is signing the most current contract. Someone will surpass him $$$ in the next couple years Id imagine.

Because he's the best player at his position and if you're even in that conversation you get more than anyone has to that point. It's the natural escalation of salaries working in harmony with a rising salary cap number.

Now having said that, I'll never understand fans who take some sort of pride when a player gets a huge deal. I'm a Cowboys fan not a Zack Martin fan. I hope they get him as cheap as possible. I hope Martin's agent makes some sort of filing error that forces Martin to play for the league minimum.

Team over player. Always.

to be fair, there should be some small discount for the early extension that reduces his risk.

Your right. Im not sure where that would rank him or how they go about the math of it, but yeah there should be a discount for an early signing.

Need one of those Gif things with Zach Martin's head placed over Manziel's head from the NFL draft when Cleveland drafted Manziel and he came out on stage with his money sign...

I think Shreff is the only one that could. I think that be overpaying though, unless he has an All Pro year. If not Shreff, Martin may hold onto it for a while. Most of the top young OG's like Jackson, Long, Bitonio and Turner have been locked up

Yeah, they will probably need all the cap they can get to sign Dak in a few years. Or I guess they can let him go in free agency and go cheap and sign Wentz for league minimum by that time.
