I'd be willing to bet you the Packers Coach, Mike McCarthy, ends up winning it because they were so bad in recent years and no one expected this.

Phillips is certainly a candidate. Maranelli in Detroit and Romeo Crennel in Cleveland might also be talked about. I doubt Belicheck is a candidate. Not because of the "cheating" but because they were expected to be good.

The Packers were getting some hype coming into the year since they won their final 4 games last season. Dallas was getting some good press as well, but there were also a bunch saying they would fall on their faces since Parcells was gone and Jerry was running the show. It will be close and I agree that Maranell and Crennel will be in the mix. So will Tomlin in Pittsburgh unless they keep losing road games to teams like the Cardinals and Jets.

i forgot about Crenell.

I really think that Phillips taking a 9-7 team and getting a first round bye would go a long way.

It definitely could. I just know how the voting usually goes. The team that improves the most over the previous year usually has the coach that wins it.

Because of that it might be Crennel. I just think the Packers get the sentimentality vote.

A couple of weeks ago I would have voted for Jeff Fisher.

Maybe Romeo Crennel if they make the playoffs? Even Coughlin has to be in the equation.

If the Cowboys not been uin the playoffs last year, Wade would likely get some consideration.

If I had a vote I would have to go with Romeo Crennel. Cleveland looks like they have a good chance to make post season. They really suprised me this season

There are a few who do legitimately deserve consideration...

Crennel, Maranelli, McCarthy, Gruden & Phillips

My vote would go to Crennel

WADE PHILLIPS deserves it!

Bellacheat cheats......so that knocks out

As much as I love what Wade is doing with the Cowboys, I think that Mike McCarthy (GB coach) probably deserves it more unless they just collapse the last few games of the season.

With all the GB butt kissing going on McCarthy will win.

I agree.

If the Packers keep this up, he'll win it. Nobody expected them to be any good.

Often times, Coach of the Year is basically a way of saying "everyone thought you'd suck at the beginning of the year, but you turned out pretty good".

So I think Crennell and McCarthy are the top candidates. Bellichick and Phillips are candidates based on their record.

Yep, I bet you're right.

McCarthy is deserving.

Just like Favre will get it for NFL MVP and starting pro bowl QB.
Not that he wouldn't deserve it, but it possibly will be a tie breaker type thing.

McCarthy certainly does deserve consideration, quite possibly more than Wade.
