At the start of free agency, we were $14,511,275 under the cap.

If we did trade for Jon Kitna and did not restructure his contract, his cap number would be $2.5 million. That would reduce our cap room by $2.115 million, leaving us $12,396,275 under the cap.

Here's the breakdown of our salary cap --

Look at the top 6 cap hits...

Then look at the production we got from them.

9-7 makes sense now. A lot of sense.

Hey Adam, how do we have dead money in Thomas and Burnett considering they're free agents?

    Definitely.

But Henry, Ellis, and R Williams (Safety) could all be gone by the time TC starts.

Their contracts were voidable after the 2008 season (because of easily reached incentives). They had prorations allocated to this season (and the next two, in Thomas' case). When their contracts voided, those prorations became dead money.

That's a pretty misleading post re: Stanback. Our long-snapper has a bigger cap number than him.

There are about 3 guys on that list I do not recognize. Tim Anderson and Jerome Carter have already been mentioned. But who is Michael Hawkins as well?

If the Kitna trade is Henry-for-Kitna, as Eatman says, we saved another $1.1 million of cap room. That would put us $15,611,275 under.
