Was it the Macho Man wrestling announcer guy that's always on Homer Call of the Week?
I was laughing the whole time. I liked him, it was fun, you just couldn't take it to serious. He was a hell of a lot better than the Raiders announcers.
Then there was the replay of the umpire falling down after placing the ball, "Here you have the grinder, and right here you got the sausage."
I loved the guy. Made the Raiders guy look like shat. He was not a homer and commented on each play according to its merit.
He sounded like Deirdorfs dumb brother
You're right. He was definitely more tolerable than Plunkett and Flores. Glad our last two games are at home, so we get our own announcers.
Yea, I was laughing out loud a few times. The "flagpole with eyebrows" and calling Minter a Centaur was pretty funny. Drawing on the teleprompter and saying "Heres the blender and heres the tomato" etc. Probably the funniest commentary I've heard on a game in years.
Here's the grinder and here's the sausage. What??
Possibly the worst called game I've ever heard. Just awful.
I thought of Ventura at the very beginning of the game and then couldn't get it out of my head. He was kind of funny though, it was like watching Jesse Ventura do a take off on the SNL "Da Bears" skit.
Same here.. i enjoyed the broadcasters this week. At least they were realistic, gave the Cowboys credit where it was due and weren't complete homers like the Raiders guys were.
The guy sounded like Jesse Ventura a bit at times, haha.. i thought it was hilarious.
Sorry I just couldn't take this guy. I wish I had ear plugs or was able to hear the Cowboys commentators
I made a comment to my wife, during the game that the announcers suck, but I thought maybe it was just me hating on the team playing the Cowboys. Guess not.
At one point I thought I was listening to Randy Macho Man Savage, or some other WWF star.
That dude was NOT funny at ALL. He was annoying as **** and i was pulling my hair out listening to his idiotic puns, cliches, and "jokes". The worst was when he started going off about the referee names. I don't even remember what they were, I just remember thinking about how terribly painful the rest of the game was going to be if i had to continue hearing that asinine toddler's cheap commentary...
That's Ron Wolfley. I live in Phoenix so I hear him on the radio every day as he does sports talk during the week as well. It took a while for him to grow on me but I find the guy hilarious even though he obviously makes some dumb *** comments.
My biggest problem with them was that they talked almost exclusively about the Cardinals. I know, I know -- that's their job. They're Cardinals broadcasters but it still really separates the quality from a national team, whose job is to each week know (or learn) a decent amount about each team. These guys had opinions on Romo, Bryant and pretty much nobody else.
He was pretty stupid, but I'll take him any day over the ridiculous Oakland homers we got last week.
I kept thinking it was David Puddy from Seinfeld - but Jess Ventura & Dierdorf's dumb brother work too. He started out ok to me but just over did his attempts to be cutesy. By the 4th quarter I had the sound on for PBP and then muted til the next play. I've never done that before.
And give me the Oakland guys all day before I have to listen to this guy again.
