Was watching Frasier last night and realized the main reason I enjoy that show is Niles Crane. That character cracks me up. One of my favorite lines from him: while jealously sizing up Daphne's new boyfriend, "He has community college written all over him." :laugh2:

Anyway, who are some of the best/funniest/most interesting TV show characters? Here are a few that I think are outstanding.

    Archie Bunker

    Barney Fife

    Newman

    Eddie Haskell

    Norm Peterson

    Walter from Fringe is awesome.

Half the cast of Chuck (Casey, Morgan, Jeffster, Awesome, and Sarah if you're talking physical character)

    Cartman

Roxy & Mason were great on Dead Like Me

Almost everyone from Firefly (especially Jayne)

I'd have to agree with Archie Bunker. Simply unforgettable.
Felix and Oscar along with Ralph and Norton were great.

Tony Soprano and Uncle Junior. I see these types every day in real life.

Colonel Potter, Hawkeye Pierce, Kilinger, etc just about everyone from M*A*S*H.

There are some shows where I might like one character but overall don't care for the show because of other characters.
I never could stand to watch Archie Bunker because of the Wife and Daughter...their voices just grated on my ears like someone putting nails to a chalkboard. Loved Barney Fife/Don Knotts but just did not like the andy griffith show for whatever reason (I know that is probably blasphemy for some).

Then there are other shows where I just did not like the main character but the rest of the actors and the shows writing made up for it...prime example is Seinfeld.

As for favorites...I would say most have already named the great ones.

I don't know if Jackie and Art were named from the Honeymooners yet, Don't know if some of the cast of MASH have been named yet but if they have not...they should be IMO.

I might have missed it on someone else's posts, but I really loved George Jefferson in both the Archie Bunker Show and the Jeffersons.
