Anyone know why Hayes thanked Staubach by name but not Meredith? Don threw a lot more passes to Hayes than Staubach did. I wonder if Roger was more active in trying to get Hayes inducted or something (which wouldn't surprise me at all).

Just wondering if anyone had the inside scoop on it.

Close. Roger was much more active/supportive during Bob's legal troubles.

Thank you God! I was afraid this day would never come.

As far as I was concerned the NFL HOF was just a big joke for me, until this day.

I remember watching and cheering for Bob Hayes in the Olympics, and then for my team "THE DALLAS COWBOYS" - to get "the fastest man alive" was a dream fulfilled. My teen age days and nights were filled of dreams of being able to run and catch the ball as Bob Hays did! He could always bring the "boys" back into a game at any time. Every kid wanted to be #22.

He was and always will be my favorite Cowboy. Because of Hayes, Dandy Don, and Roger, we have "America's Team". ( Ok, "Too Tall Jones" is another favorite of mine who never gets the respect he deserves.)

Thank all you that were in any small way responsible for finally getting Bob the respect, he should have had 30 years ago.

This day will remain in my heart for the rest of my life, and yes I have shed quite a few tears today.

Staubach was there for a lot of guys. I have Hollywood Henderson's bio, "Out Of Control" and he talks about Staubach coming to visit him in the hospital (when drugs almost killed him) and writing to him when he was in prison. This was years after he had left the team too.

There's a reason why Staubach has been one of my heroes all these years. He's just that good, as a player and as a person. For many it is an act but not for him, he really is "The Man".

They did him so wrong for so long.

This will not remove the stain, it only keep it from getting worse.

Now there's only about 6-8 more to go.

A great day finally! He truly deserved this, it's just too bad they didn't bestow this deserving honor upon him while he was still here with us.

I got to see Bob Hayes play at the '66 Championship game. He fumbled the TWO opening kickoffs, which were recoverd by Green Bay and with less than 20 seconds off the clock the Packers were up 14 -0. Dandy Don brought them back and even took the lead in the 4th I think, but Bart Starr showed why he was a first ballot HOFer.

God Bless you Bob Hayes. I'm glad justice has been done...
