Unfortunately there is no way in hell Obama will do the right thing for a change and dump his former employer and strong supporter ACORN.

Bachmann Calls on Congress to Block Funds to ACORN

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/14/bachmann-calls-congress-block-funds-acorn/

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann called on Congress Thursday to block ACORN's access to federal housing funds, citing repeated charges of voter registration fraud against the low-income advocacy group.

The Republican congresswoman, flanked by an ACORN whistleblower and an attorney who worked on an ACORN case in Pennsylvania, escalated a media offensive against the group, which is a favorite target of conservatives who claim liberals are unjustly protecting a dysfunctional organization by allowing it access to taxpayer money.

"ACORN, as you know, is no stranger to the spotlight," Bachmann said outside the Capitol. "Yet no matter how many times prosecutors investigate and even indict ACORN and their employees, they emerge unblemished as far as the federal government is concerned from having access to federal tax dollars."

Bachmann, who hit the same themes in an op-ed in the Washington Times on Wednesday, complained that House Democrats killed her amendment to block organizations indicted for voter fraud from receiving federal housing money. She said ACORN has received at least $53 million in tax dollars since 1994, and that she will have new legislation in the coming weeks.

"We simply believe that the bar needs to be very high," she said.

The call for congressional action comes after Nevada officials filed voter registration fraud charges against ACORN last week, and Pennsylvania authorities charged seven local ACORN workers with forging voter registration forms.

In the Nevada case, officials alleged the group illegally based employment and compensation on a quota system for voter registration. The group required canvassers to register 20 voters per shift or be fired, officials said, and gave bonus money to canvassers who registered more than 20 people.

ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson recently told FOX News that the group does not institute a quota system as a matter of national policy, but that in Nevada, "We had a bad employee."

But Anita MonCrief, a former ACORN worker, echoed Bachmann in describing the advocacy group as a sham. She said senior staffers train employees to avoid asking whether people are already registered to vote when they sign up residents, resulting in "thousands and thousands" of duplicates, and criminal problems for the employees.

"The employees were being thrown under the bus," she said. "[Senior staff] stood on the backs of the poor in order to make money for their organization."

Attorney Heather Heidelbaugh, who appeared with Bachmann, accused lawmakers and the mainstream media of avoiding the ACORN issue.

"We've had a swine flu scare here in the United States. I think there's denial flu in Congress," she said. "It's either a case of serious denial or complicity."

Oh by the way, since none of that money was designated to acorn like so many want to say it was...I just took it for myself.

No money in that stimulus was dedicated or set aside for ACORN specifically.

They can compete or apply for the money if they meet the requirements for it, but so can any other business that wants to apply for it.

    http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2009/feb/02/could-acorn-reap-windfall-stimulus/

But don't let that get in the way of people saying it was put in the bill just for ACORN.

Does it surprise anyone that democrats would kill a bill that would prevent tax payer money from going to groups that have been indicted for voter fraud?

and who distributes that money? You do not believe ACORN will get any tax payer money? Care to make a wager on that? Lets make it a dollar for every hundred thousand ACORN gets from the Obama administration. If gambling is against the rules of the board let me know and we could call it the JBond retirement fund.:)

Yeah, you go on believe politicians too. Obama has backed Acorn and they spent money on him and vice versa. But yeah, it being printed in the ol black and white has got me convinced.

Id wait and see what happens first. With Acorn under the gun here, they can dismantle the group, recreate another name and still get the people that wanted that money to get that money. There are some 14 states with pending cases or wanting cases with Nevada being the first one. A lot of employees are going to be scapegoats and the real thieves will be running out the back door and looking to rewrite paperwork and still get their money. But shhhh its not in print yet so we dont know what to think with our own tiny little brains.

Never said they will not get any tax payer funds or money ever.

I just debunked the myth many want to perpetrate that says that that part of the stimulus was specifically for ACORN when it was not.

There are probably a lot of groups that get funds from tax payers, we even had the credit card industry write legislation that the president passed a year or two back.

this is not in any way a complete list.

“For a further additional amount for ‘Community Development Fund,’ $4,190,000,000, to be used for neighborhood stabilization activities related to emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes as authorized under division B, title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110–289), of which— “(1) not less than $3,440,000,000 shall be allocated by a competition for which eligible entities shall be States, units of general local government, and nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities[.]” “(2) up to $750,000,000 shall be awarded by competition to nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities to provide community stabilization assistance […]”

they don't even have to compete with the states for the 750 mill now how is that for gravy on your frys?
Who exactly is going to compete with acorn and live to tell about it?

Thats just a couple minutes looking, I can find more if you really want.

That is a great link. I will keep that one. I have to admit, it gets me down knowing my 13 year old son and 7 month old daughter are going to have to pay the bill for all of Obama's wasteful spending.

Your kids were going to be paying off the bill for government whether Obama was elected or not. Heck they will still be paying off stuff for the Iraq war. They will still be paying off stuff for SS that was long before W was president and so on and so on.

Before he kinda hid his man love for Obama by telling us he voted for Ron Paul.
It's too obvious now that he voted Obama...a vote for Paul was essentially a vote for Obama,so he won both ways.

He just think we can't see that.

I hate making you guys look even more foolish than you are but here goes...

A vote for Ron Paul was not a Vote for Obama in my state...maybe in your state but not in mine.

McCain won my state by a large margin so there was no way in hades my vote helped Obama.

But keep acting foolish like burm and his messiah obsession.:laugh2:

You guys just make it so easy.
