Does it hurt cap wise if we just cut him now???
They can tweak the scheme to move responsibilities around. In Chicago Urlacher was the star player and he was the MLB.
All kidding aside, I do think this is the end of Matt Johnson. Didn't really hurt the Cowboys to bring him back for one last go but they will soon cut him I'm sure.
interesting that one of our 7th round picks (Bishop) is already that close to being in the starting rotation, not sure if that's a terrifying thing or potentially a good thing.
I do have a feeling that we'll get more production from our 2014 7th rounders than our entire 2009 draft class.
Football is getting closer!
He'll need to be healthy for the majority of training camp to have a chance to stay around. They are extra careful at this time of year about holding players out for minor injuries.
Many would say in this scheme, the WIL is more critical.
this is True. See Derrick Brooks. Carter has the same skill set. You dude had a bad year last year , not terrible, missed out on some key plays last year no doubt, but he showed a lot in 2012, I honestly think he is going to bounce back for us
Lance Briggs has been the best Bear LB for a quite a while now.
Yes, but he's not really a star type player. Urlacher was once (when he was under 30) a star player.
Not sure what your criteria is for a star player but Briggs has been a pro bowler every year since 2005 (drafted in 2003) except for 2013. While both Urlacher and Briggs have been voted to same number of pro bowl (8), Briggs earned his pro bowls while Urlacher, oft injured, got in on mostly on rep the last 3 times.
If we had 50 guys with the passion of Dez, we'd be unstoppable...
No that can't be true. All these guys being held out are dealing with debilitating issues. Heard it on the Zone. Must be true.
How long before we are trotting Dontavis Sapp out there as the starter at MLB?
Duran at MLB is probably the
Thats what happens when your GM goes drinking with his buddies on the farm all weekend.
Johnson needs to gut through it.
It certainly isn't something to get riled up on regarding Matt Johnson, but Johnson needs to be on the field as much as possible to prove he is not a walking injury. In all likelihood Johnson is a marginal NFL talent along the lines of Alan Ball or Lynn Scott. Those guys need to take advantage of every opportunity they get. Johnson seems to have some fans in the front office and he has also been lucky that the team has such poor depth on defense over the past three seasons. Although I don't think they will keep him another year if he misses more time when camp begins.
I've heard that Duran is Hungry like the Wolf.
Miles was patient zero...
Carter's an enigma -- such a physically talented guy that would be capable of working wonders if only he could somehow manage to overcome the problem between his ears. I can see why Marinelli doesn't want him to abandon the weak side for MLB. Bruce's learning curve is much too slow to consider a new position at this point. If Carter's able to master WLB anytime soon, it'll probably seem somewhat miraculous. It'd definitely be great if the light came on all of a sudden in camp. Here's hoping it does.
