Why are there a bunch of dude's with perms in your sig?
Agree with that.. We need to hit a random homerun somewhere.
Ronald Leary, Matt Johnson, or David Arkin would be nice.
this can be fixed THIS off-season. here's how:
go after the best FA OL that they can afford (restructure a few deals and get Long or some other good OL); then, use the first round pick on the best OL available when they select;
Then you have an OL of Long, Livings, Costa, (Insert 1st rounder), Smith...Free, if still on the team, battle for one of the Guard positions
DLine in the 2nd round
Grab Osi (if affordable)
Ware, Ratliff, Hatcher/Osi, Crawford/2nd rounder
if the team is healthy, then the D is in better shape to hide the DL deficiencies than the offense based on Carter, Lee, DB's...
Big NO on Long- he has been coasting on his rep the last couple of years and he has started getting nagging injuries
So, we are going to be able to free up enough money to sign Long and Osi?
How about getting a real good QB first?
We need to start building a foundation for our current QB and our next QB.
I'm fine with drafting a QB but this isn't the class to be taking a QB high.
damn, i forgot about jerry's pets leary and arkin. yeah...there is no way we're picking oline 1st round now.
they could free up enough to do just about anything if they really wanted..the problem with that is that it affects them long-term..rob peter to pay paul...and, Long was a suggestion (there are others that would be difference-makers) and Osi I feel could be affordable...he wasn't a starter and is on the down-side of his career, thus making his demands not as crazy in the past (when he deserved it more)
...and, tothe guys talking about leary and arkin, sure, the FO would love for one or both of these guys to step up...but, if nothing else, JJ really has made it uncomfortable, true to his word...perhaps the OL should feel that way as well
I agree with your premise but I happen to think we should concentrate on the defensive line. With a decent offensive coordinator / play caller, our weakness on the o-line can be mitigated somewhat. Romo does a fairly good job of mitigating them when we go to a hurry up offense. Anytime Garrett is calling plays, our O-line weaknesses are much more evident. When the Red headed Idiot is calling plays like we are still the 90's team that could impose it's will on opponents, it makes us look bad. I think a dominant defense is still the key to long term success hence I say build a dominant d-line.
I agree with your points on Garrett and I'm ok with building a D Line.
romo loses all composure in big game settings
since 1994, jerry jones has drafted more first pick dl and lb than wr, rb and qb combined.
go ahead and continue to perpetuate this false jerry jones myth
dl and lb first picks in drafts since 94:
sexy jersey selling wr, rb and qb first selection in drafts since 94:
That Jerry sure is all about the jersey sales!!
The Cowboys selected Tyron Smith with ninth overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, it was the highest pick used on a sexy jersey seller since Troy Aikman in the 1989 draft.
Jerry Jones hasn't used a top 20 pick on a jersey seller since Emmitt Smith in the 1990 NFL draft.
The problem isn't that Jerry is out to make a splash with a sexy pick, the problem is that he's all over the place with his picks, and his success rate on picks is leaning low.
Those whining about the sexy picks, should be arguing we need an influx of premium skill players.Lets look at our offense:
We could use a couple of merchandise pushers, if you ask me!
The best post in this thread!
3-4 olb 3
3-4 de 1
6 draft picks on edge rushers... out of 23. drafted two defensive tackles in the early 90s, only one tackle, and that was recently, no guards or centers...
shiny toy syndrome
shiny toys are WRs, QBs, RBs, CBs, and pass rushers either end or OLB.
They all get lots of publicity and make noise in the media.
Now the cold hard fact is that Jerruh has only ever used ONE FIRST RD PICK on the O LINE. 2 on DT's. In 24 drafts.
I despice Aggies, but you don't go into Tuscaloosa and beat Bama, being a "shinytoy syndrome".
