    IRVING, Texas - The NFL's owners and its players union agreed to extend their negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for 24 hours past the original deadline of 11:01 p.m. (CT) Thursday night.

    The next 24 hours could be used to work out a longer extension, or give the players' side time to digest the latest offer from the owners.

    NFL Players Association representatives and the league's 10-person labor committee, including Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on Wednesday, have been in Washington, D.C. for federal mediation the last two days following a week of increased talks aimed at avoiding a work stoppage.

    If an impasse is declared, the NFLPA is expected to file for a decertification before owners could vote to lock out the players. The move would send the two sides into a legal battle, with the union arguing that the league violates federal antitrust laws...
