I wonder if the team could decide to go with 0 fullbacks on the final 53.

Uh....tried that last year, and couldn't make it work. Decided we needed to pick up Clutts.

Open up the offense and keep four running backs...as Cas called it.

I really want a FB but, if they suck, they suck. I would rather give the spot to a LB or DL.

Maybe if they ran it on 3rd and short then the FB position could actually contribute. At least Copeland moved defenders out of the hole on the few occasions he was asked to lead block. Clutts did not fare as well as a lead blocker.

If they aren't happy with either fb then get another one in here, but we should definitely not go without one. Like CowboyDan said- been there, done that

If they want a real FB and are going to commit a roster spot to that alone, Vonta Leach is still available.

I do not think they are truly serious about the position to be honest.

With this news, I guess all the excitement about Copeland just destroying as a blocker was just that.

I think you're right they really don't want a fullback, well Garrett doesn't at least. I'd just hate for us not to carry one and give him an excuse to go away from the run, especially in short yardage.

Linehan is not much different. I do not see the need given their respective MOs.

Might as well keep an extra RB to bank on the inevitable injuries to either Murray or Dunbar.

I just have an issue with us in short yardage with no fullback. A fullback may not be great and it may not look pretty, but I think it will be more effective in short yardage than without one.

I agree, but it is a luxury. We could just march out an extra OT.

Wait, we really don't have a good one.

Tough to find a really good extra OT because they get taken by other teams or get moved to guard. I've rarely seen the extra OT work for any length of time.

Maybe. But Wetzel showed better than I expected. He does have the BC thing going for him.

Hopefully we quit wasting time with Parnell and give him more quality reps.

That would be my preference. You can better use that roster spot elsewhere.

Fullback has become so underutlized in today's game that unless you have an exceptional player there I think you just do without.
