Just out of curiosity, is there any correlation between standard of living and tax rates?

I hate the earmarks argument. It drives me nuts. There are earmarks. Its part of the power that legislature has. They use it to get bills passed. They use it to apportion funds. Hey sign this bill and we will put $750k worth of wooden arrows to use in your states recreational park. So?

non-for-profits have a hard time generating funding for projects and rely on these kind of things to operate. Would you like to see public museums close or bridges collapse?

Yearly, I think Obama mentioned that earmarks end up being less than 1% of the budget, and probably somewhere around 10% of total government spending.

hmmm I don't get it shouldn't the more you make the more you get taxed or do they figure 30% of some ones income is more than enough ?

    Hey I did some research...

Lets say you make 335,000 you fall in the 39% range right...

Your tax = 22,250(a fixed number which rises on occasion)+39%(INCOME-100,000)
    Your tax = 113,900

lets say you make 20 million

    Your tax = 35%(Income)
    Your tax = 7 million

if you compare the two... the first person pays a rate of 34% (113900/335000) and the 2nd person pays 35%. That is taxable income though. The actual company could have made 50 million in income and lets say they invested in going green and got a 1 million deduction and contributed to charity and got a deduction. The percentage goes down.

I guess, everyone gets screwed equally no matter what.

Tax is hurting my brain lol.

Obama had nothing to do with him being on the board.

He just worked with him on it...like the Republicans did.

I'm talking surprised that they would be disqualified from working for the FBI or Secret Service.

Not about whether they knew what he did or not.

But I'm sure some did know and some didn't.

He was trying to shake the hand of the host and kept switching sides to go around so he briefly stuck his tongue out as a joke of exasperation.

For clarification, that was not a run of the mill projector that projects transparencies and the like onto the wall but one of those machines at planetariums that project stars and planets.

Why does McCain spend so much time talking about earmarks when they account for less than 1% of the budget???

That is like giving a tic tac to a whale!!!
