IRVING -- Cowboys officials took about 15 minutes Wednesday to pay tribute to former offensive lineman Marc Colombo as he officially announced his retirement.

Colombo, 33, played last season for Miami after the Cowboys released him. Colombo, a 2002 first-round pick of the Chicago Bears, started every game he played for the Cowboys from 2006 to 2010.

Once he decided to officially retire, Colombo called Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to ask if he could retire as a Cowboy. He also called former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells before his last NFL game to let him know he was going to retire and Parcells returned the call and left him a flattering message.

I would have thought someone with that avatar would have more respect for Colombo. He was one of the few you could count on to stand up for the star during his tenure here.
