    IRVING — The Dallas Cowboys are working out veteran NFL safety Michael Huff today at Valley Ranch, according to a source.

    Huff, a former Texas player who played high school football at Irving Nimitz, was released by the Baltimore Ravens in late October. Huff, 30, is a former 2006 first-round pick by the Oakland Raiders.

    Huff signed a three-year, $6 million contract in late March with the Baltimore Ravens. He was viewed as a replacement for safety Ed Reed. In seven games for the Ravens this season (one start), Huff had only four tackles and no passed defended. He struggled in coverage, particularly early in the season against the Denver Broncos, and wound up playing mostly on special teams for the Ravens in the end before he was cut a few weeks ago.
