Yep, he didn't shut down in the fourth, he shut down in the 3rd. That is the only thing he could be blamed for, shutting down too early.

They didn't shut it down with well over 20 minutes.

In fact, the fumble by Avant they were still running at the same pace. Even the play-by-play shows (no huddle) on the plays.

They didn't 'slow down' until they got the ball back again, with 12:24 in the 4th quarter.

    No, they didn't:

    1. Philadelphia Eagles at 06:25 3rd Quarter
    2. 1-10-PHI 30 (6:25) (Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy right end pushed ob at PHI 36 for 6 yards (56-P.Riley).
    3. 2-4-PHI 36 (5:57) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy up the middle to PHI 44 for 8 yards (23-D.Hall).

    8. 4-35-PHI 19 (4:01) 8-D.Jones punts 57 yards to WAS 24, Center-46-J.Dorenbos. 25-C.Thompson to WAS 34 for 10 yards (55-B.Graham). PENALTY on PHI, Illegal Formation, 5 yards, enforced at PHI 19 - No Play.
    and

    4th Quarter
    1. 2-2-PHI 27 (15:00) (Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy left end to PHI 30 for 3 yards (30-E.Biggers; 92-C.Baker).
    2. 1-10-PHI 30 (14:23) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy up the middle to PHI 27 for -3 yards (96-B.Cofield).
    3. 2-13-PHI 27 (13:55) (No Huddle, Shotgun) 7-M.Vick pass short right to 81-J.Avant to PHI 33 for 6 yards (26-J.Wilson). FUMBLES (26-J.Wilson), RECOVERED by WAS-56-P.Riley at PHI 35. 56-P.Riley pushed ob at PHI 14 for 21 yards (65-L.Johnson). The Replay Assistant challenged the runner was down by contact ruling, and the play was REVERSED. (No Huddle, Shotgun) 7-M.Vick pass short right to 81-J.Avant to PHI 33 for 6 yards (26-J.Wilson). FUMBLES (26-J.Wilson), RECOVERED by WAS-56-P.Riley at PHI 35. 56-P.Riley to PHI 29 for 6 yards (81-J.Avant).

They were stymied by penalties and then a fumble by Avant on a pass on 2nd and 13.

Meanwhile, the still ran the same fast pace with a no huddle.

It wasn't until they got their next possession, with 12 minutes left in the game...that they 'shut it down.'

    1. 10-PHI 20 (12:24) (Shotgun) 7-M.Vick scrambles left end to PHI 27 for 7 yards (59-L.Fletcher).
    2. 2-3-PHI 27 (11:38) (Shotgun) 7-M.Vick left end pushed ob at WAS 37 for 36 yards (23-D.Hall).
    3. 1-10-WAS 37 (10:48) (Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy up the middle to WAS 35 for 2 yards (59-L.Fletcher, 24-B.Rambo).
    4. 2-8-WAS 35 (10:05) (Shotgun) 25-L.McCoy right tackle to WAS 32 for 3 yards (59-L.Fletcher, 56-P.Riley).
    5. 3-5-WAS 32 (9:27) (Shotgun) 7-M.Vick pass incomplete short middle to 10-D.Jackson [91-R.Kerrigan]. PENALTY on PHI-62-J.Kelce, Offensive Holding, 10 yards, enforced at WAS 32 - No Play.
    6. 3-15-WAS 42 (9:22) (Shotgun) 7-M.Vick pass incomplete deep right to 10-D.Jackson.
    7. 4-15-WAS 42 (9:16) 8-D.Jones punts 36 yards to WAS 6, Center-46-J.Dorenbos, out of bounds.
Out of those first 6 plays listed, they attempted to throw the ball on #2, #5 and #6. So they were looking to pass the ball on half of those plays.

The only thing that they 'shut down' by that point was the no huddle which they didn't do until 12 minutes left in the game.

I think it raises questions as to what the problems were in the 2nd half. Even if they 'shut it down', I would think they could get more than 4 first downs in an entire half. And they got 2 of them when they 'shut it down'.

no huddle is their entire offense. Shutting down is about how quick they snap the ball and what they do with it. They ran the clock down and handed it off.

6:25 in the third QT (That's over 20 minutes still left) Eagles up 33-7.

    1st and 10: McCoy Run
    2nd and 4: McCoy run
    1st and 10: Brown Run
    2nd and 15: Brown run
    3rd and 20: Vick incomplete

    Redskins score: 33-13

    1st and 10: McCoy run
    4th QT
    2nd and 2: McCoy run
    1st and 10: McCoy run
2nd and 13: Avant Fumbles at 29 yard line.

Redskins score in 1:22 33-20 Redskins.

    1st and 10: Vick run
    2nd and 3: Vick run
    1st and 10: McCoy run
    2nd and 8: Mccoy run
    3nd and 5: Penalty
    3rd and 15: Vick incomplete

Redskins turn it over on downs.

    1st and 10: McCoy run
    2nd and 6: Brown run
3rd and 7: Vick pass complete
    1st and 10: McCoy run
    2nd and 8: Mccoy run
    3rd and 6: Vick run
    Punt

Redskins get it with 3:42. Score and game over since eagles can just take knees.

If you look at that. It's just run after run after run. Avant doesn't fumble and the eagles save 14 points since they would have taken off atleast another 2 mins off the clock and that would mean the redskins don't get that last TD with a 1 min left.

The problem was that they were ineffective running the slow pace offense. Chip Kelly commented on it as well. How they need to practice slower because they've been practising at on speed all summer.

“We’ve got to practice it a little bit more,” Kelly said. “We do a lot of things at such a rapid tempo, I think our guys understand tempo and do that pretty good. We also have to learn how to practice playing it the other way.”

you can't seem to grasp the difference between no huddle and hurry up. You can go into a no huddle but it doesn't matter if you don't snap the ball until 4 seconds. That's what they did.

You are talking around the point I made. What you stated does not change how I think it is best to attack Chip's offense. And how I have seen Chip lose. FWIW I am a big fan of Chip and I'm not running him down.

Read my previous post. I stated Vick said they shut it down in the second half. He wanted to keep it going too. The Eagles practice like they play games. They run 100 plays on offense in practice to get ready to play.

The Pats ran 89 plays last week. What about that ESPN?

Redskins made them look unbeatable in the first half. They will probably be an 8-8 team when all is said and done...
