Ex-scout Bryan Broaddus joined the Elf & Slater Show on 105.3 FM The Fan last week. Here are some highlights.

On who is spearheading the offense:
“I’m watching what’s going on out there on the field, the practice field, and Bill Callahan is calling the plays and to me I see this as a positive thing. I think Billy will bring a toughness to this group in the way he calls plays. I’m not saying Jason Garrett doesn’t want to get weapons on the field, but Billy is about, ‘Let’s be secure up front. Let’s do what we have to do. Let’s use the running game, get two, three, four yards, use some playaction stuff, use the waggle stuff. Like I say, there’s going to be a lot of times where there’s going to be mixing a lot of formations on the field and I think a lot of that is Callahan trying to say, ‘OK, I’ve got all these guys, let me find a way to use them.’ But right now he’s working on some pretty base things.”

    On the defense:
“I think the strength of this team might be the defensive end. If you look at Ware and Spencer, Spencer has been the best defensive player they’ve had out there. He’s been outstanding. Wilber has done a nice job playing the weak side since Ware has been gone, being paired with Spencer, so you see something there. Crawford has shown a lot more power at the point of attack. There has been some times where he’s been rushing, he’s been pushing just with one hand, keeping his outside arm free, and then working around the corner. I think the defensive end spot, those four guys, you’ve got a nice mix there. Where is it going to happen inside? That’s going to be the biggest issue.”
