    My thoughts from Monday’s practice:

*The more you watch tight end Jason Witten, the more you should appreciate what a truly outstanding football player he is really.

Witten had an outstanding day on Monday, catching two passes down the middle against a Cover 2 look in the two-minute drill. It’s amazing the feel that Romo has for Witten and where he is going to be in a route.

*Reports are coming out that wide receiver Patrick Crayton is putting some work in as a long snapper. To me, this idea doesn’t sound crazy at all.

I would hope so, I would hate to have some defensive lineman lined up over center with Crayton doing the snapping, they would drive right over him and that is the last place you want pressure coming from.

No they absolutely mean the long snapper. Click the link and there's a bit more detail.

    Crayton's own words:

I have no idea if this will work, or not, but if you could free up the long snappers spot, it would create more depth elsewhere. Then again, if it fails (whiff's) the repercussions could be very severe.

Didn't know Dallas had a need at long snapper.

Thought they were pretty set at that position.

So his goals are to hold and headhunt... how many penalties does he plan on getting? Is he even on the regular coverage units? You would think they would have someone who knows how to tackle and is actually fast do this if it was a serious option.

They most certainly are...if LP stays healthy. He goes down, gotta have someone who can step and do it. Phillips was the backup, right now the backup is Dixon, bt it's likely he won't even make the team.

Right, but L.P. doesn't moonlight as a 4th receiver. PC can, and that opens up one more roster spot. I'm not sure if I like this or not, but it's an interesting way to look at the possibilities.

Makes sense to me...he's a former college QB, and they aren't allowed to put a man over the center to maul him anymore...more athletic long snappers often get a relatively free release to get down the field for tackles.

    It's beyond me that this guy isn't a fan-favorite.

I don't care what anyone says, you don't cut L.P.

Can anyone remember a bad snap from the guy? If so, it had to have happened a while ago.

If they cut L.P., I'll be pissed.

I don't think they will but I just wanna point out how incredibly stupid that move would be.

I don't do it. I'd rather take 5 WRs and cut Holley and Hurd.

That's why you and I are posting on here, and Wade is making millions. :)

I'm purely speculating, and I'm not sure if I hope I'm right or not :( , but I have a feeling their looking at Crayton as more than a backup.
