I hope NBC does it soon. It'd come back as its top rated show, and its best show.
I hope they don't. Attempts to match that outstanding cast will be sad and pathetic, similar to all the movie/cartoon/comic book remakes.
Most of the cast are young enough to be recurring characters.
I'm pretty sure Rob Lowe has said no, Martin Sheen isn't getting any younger, John Spencer already passed away, Dule Hill has Psych.
Janney, Whitford and Schiff aren't doing any TV, just film.
Long shot at best.
I just revisit the whole series every few years. Buy them on DVD or BluRay.
One of the best shows ever made IMO...
I'd rather they didn't try a true remake, but I wouldn't mind if Sorkin and Co. did something similar.
For folks who haven't seen it, they did: Sports Night was Sorkin's first show, and it was faster, funnier and a bit lighter on the bombast than West Wing. Don't be surprised if you experience some deja vu while watching it: Sorkin cannibalized a couple of the plotlines from Sports Night for the first season of West Wing.
The next one should cover the other side of the political aisle. Fair is fair.
It's Hollywood. What do you expect? Fair and balanced?
They already have a whole network for those kinds of shows.
TNT is going to bring back the series Dallas (next generation)
By the way did anyone see JR Ewing (Larry Hagman) this past sunday at the Cowboys game?
Well, there was this.
vs 3 on the other side?
I'm probably the only person who absolutely loved that show :laugh2:
That doesn't prevent any of them from being recurring characters(well beside John Spencer), two or three episode arches each a season and bring in a new administration. Start it after the "Santos" administration so that they can bring in a whole new cast. It is one of the best shows in TV History, it will attract a talented cast.
I don't seem them bringing this show back.
A big reason why shows like that with a large cast do "go away" after a while is the cost. As the cast-members get more famous, they get more costly.
To bring back a show like this with as many of the originals as possible would be very expensive.
More like to see a similar show featuring mostly new cast members OR a made for TV movie, but not a 22 episode season of featuring the same folks. Way too expensive for the network to deal with.
That's what I would want, and a made for TV Movie with the original cast can be the lead in to the first episode, tying the two stories together. NBC would pop it's highest ratings for scripted programming in 5+ years, atleast. It'd probably be a 4.5 night, and hopefully a NBC exec gets the idea soon enough.
To build on this idea, the movie could cover the Santos administration running for re-election, with the TV show restarting with the defeat of Santos in the general election. It'd be interesting the storylines that come out of running a successful insurgent campaign for president in a TV show.
It's all about the ratings...........right?
