Jason Garrett just said Tyron Smith will move to LT in 2012. Doug Free to RT. Players have been informed.

Garrett said switch is not in stone and could be revisited in future.

Just saw Todd Archer and Josh Ellis from DC.com tweet "Garrett says Tyron Smith will begin the summer at LT, Free at RT. Players have been informed."

I think we all saw this coming.

That was obvious when the selection was made.

Getting rid of players is only half the battle, finding players to actually come in and do the job goes along with it.

As expected, but good to see reported. The plan to convert Tyron Smith into a beast at LT takes form.

Good. Now we need a RT. I mean I am all for this move, but I have my doubts about Free at times.

Free is our RT and he will be fine on the right side.

We need to fix the interior of the line.

Something was wrong with Free this year.

Yes he is a finesse guy and can be a ragdoll at times but he is athletic, left handed, and usually played with a high motor.

Something was off this year. Maybe he just got payed and turned it in? Lockout?

Even if Jason doesn't work out as a HC here, i'd love to bring him in full time as a public relations specialist.

"Jason Garrett says Smith moving to LT next year, Free to right tackle.. maybe. They could always move back. Who knows? Find out when the games start!"

I'm sure Stephan or Jerry will shoot this idea down next time someone shoves a microphone in their face.

I was just about to say that. We see Tyron as a RT only, etc. Much like the Ratliff statement.

No, if Free had played at the same level as in 2010 last year, he'd still be the LT

Free never was a LT. He excelled at RT to the point that starting Colombo over him at Minnesota in '09 was a mistake. But Wade was always partial to the old vets, one of his flaws.

If Tyron gets plenty of reps and comes in ready to work, this will probably be the best move of the offseason for the offense (aside from adding a Center, obviously).
