For the young fans who weren't old enough (or not yet born) to remember how this played out:

Nah, down here in the south....we say "Trying to clean his face"

When somebody ****s up..we say "His face is dirty"

My bad I should have used the world wide term.

As for the current Cowboys, Johnson sees problems with the way Jones has structured the team. Johnson said that in the NFL, everyone — players, coaches, general managers, everyone — is motivated by the fear of losing their jobs. But when Jones has hired himself as general manager, there’s no fear of losing his job — and also no fear of any of Jones’s family members or other personal favorites losing their jobs.
“Really, the No. 1 motivator is fear, you know, fear of maybe letting down your teammates, of being chastised or maybe losing your job. Where’s the fear in Dallas? There’s no fear in Dallas. It’s a country club where everybody’s buddies,” Johnson said.

    You go Jimmy!

The news element is Jimmy's public admission, or readmission that he built this team alone - contractually.

From the article I posted above:

It's 18 years later, and what has changed? Jerry still doesn't recognize a quality coach, and he still doesn't see the point in having a competent general manager. Apparently he still thinks he can just pull someone out of the cheap seats to coach this team to a Super Bowl. Never mind that it hasn't happened since all of the players that Jimmy drafted have retired.

"There’s no fear in Dallas. It’s a country club where everybody’s buddies.”

Enough said. And the proof is that this team has not done squat since the Jimmy era, where there was fear in Dallas.

This, I pray, begins an era of real change. Truth is always the best disinfectant.

I've heard pretty much the exact opposite from people on the internet so I think I'll just believe them rather than Jimmy.

It should be entertaining. Unfortunately, Jerry has no shame, so it will all be lost on him.

I can never tell when people on this board are joking or not.

You DO realize that Barry won SB30 with Jimmy's team, right?

Kid of seems like Jimmy is referring more to how Jerry takes every opportunity to say he is the GM.

Actually having the title is one thing, but constantly reminding people you are the GM is another.

He may have been labeled the GM but I think Jimmy is making a claim that Jerry started to take ownership of that title and mention it to anyone who would listen at a later date.

I also think Jimmy is slightly rubbed the wrong way by Jerry saying the Superbowls came from "his way".

    Really. How pathetic.

The point is Jerry was not an active GM like he is now. So to say he's not changing because they've won this way in the past, that his role has never changed, is completely dishonest.
