SANTA FE SPRINGS - A seafood plant employee died Thursday after he was cooked in an oven in an industrial accident, authorities said Friday.

Bumble Bee Foods officials identified the man as Jose Melena, a 6-year employee of the business.

He was 62 years old, according to Whittier police.

The incident took place shortly before 7 a.m. at Bumble Bee Foods, 13100 Arctic Circle, Whittier police officials said in a written statement.

The initial investigation indicated that, "he was fatally injured when he was cooked in an oven,"

Don't know what's worse that or the story of the guy who fell into a wood chipper.

I'd say the wood chipper would be the most horrifying way to go.

No way, wood chipper would be over pretty fast. Getting cooked is a "process" that will be extremely painful, or so I would assume :(

If a wood chipper was used as a form of execution I bet murder rates would drop.

Definitely feet first strapped to a slow moving conveyor belt. That will give them time to think as they hear the wood chipper approaching.

I grew up in a small town with a steel mill. The steel was manufactured in this plant and shipped worldwide. In order to form the steel, the company used these huge furnaces to burn out and separate the impurities. Well, this unfortunate man fell into the furnace from above. Needless to say, he didn't last very long.

Ouch, that might almost be as bad as falling into a cauldron of melted sugar or hot oil. Scratch that, all three would be a bad way to go :(

Cauldron of melted sugar though? :laugh2:

No death is funny, but caramelized to death would be a weird way to go.

That is a huge fear of mine. Ever got hot, liquid sugar on your finger from cooking something? Or burnt your finger on cinnamon toast right out of the oven? That stuff does not come off in a hurry, that is for sure and it is painful.
