    EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — “We’re just changing the bus driver,” Jason Garrett said, and most waited for the wreck.
    That was in 1994. Then, when the Cowboys lost their first two quarterbacks, they had no choice but to play their third, Garrett, on Thanksgiving.

    What followed was a day as mystifying as Sunday. No one is sure again, 16 years later, if Garrett graduated from Princeton or from Hogwarts.

    But whereas the magic of 1994 lasted a day, will what happened Sunday last longer?

    For Jerry Jones, that’s the future. For now, he has a reason to believe he will still be able to sell quality merchandise to his fan base.
