    IRVING — The Dallas Cowboys defense isn't performing as advertised.
    Touted in training camp as a potential juggernaut, the Wade Phillips-coordinated unit is struggling to hold down scoring, produce takeaways and prevent big plays.

    After Sunday's 34-27 loss to Tennessee, the Cowboys (1-3) ranked 21st in the league in scoring defense, yielding an average of 21.8 points per game.

    “It's execution,” end Marcus Spears said. “There's really not much to say. We just have to do our jobs better.”
