Chris Faytok/The Star-LedgerNew York Giants offensive tackle Kareem McKenzie.
Giants RT Kareem McKenzie was reportedly arrested last night in Little Falls and charged with driving under the influence. is reporting McKenzie was pulled over at about 9:30 p.m. after cutting through a gas station. A Brethalyzer test revealed he was over the legal limit of .08.
McKenzie did not address reporters today, as the story broke after he left the stadium. He did issue a statement through the Giants PR department.

"I spoke with Coach Coughlin and Jerry Reese this morning and expressed my remorse for last night's situation," McKenzie said. "I am prepared to deal with the consequences of that situation from both a legal standpoint and as a player in the National Football League."

    Coughlin also released a statement.

"We are aware of the situation with Kareem," he said. "I spoke to him this morning. He is extremely remorseful. The legal process will take its course, and the league will handle this matter. Nobody will be harder on Kareem than Kareem himself. He is very conscientious and has been a first-class citizen since he arrived here with our organization."

As for McKenzie's status on Sunday, he might play and start. After all, as Coughlin said, "the legal process will take its course." In other words, he hasn't been convicted of anything yet. Plus, I'm told McKenzie was working with the first team at practice today. We'll see if anything changes before the game against the Ravens.

As for what the league will do, we'll have to wait and see. McKenzie could be entered into the substance abuse program, perhaps with a fine and/or suspension.

If this is his first offense nothing will happen to him. They will just slap his pee-pee and everything is back to normal.

I would hope he get some kind of suspension...seems like this kind of activty fits within Goodells mandate against "embarrasing the league"

To Bradshaw's defense, whatever he did happened when he was in college. He shouldnt get any suspension if it happened when he wasn't even in the NFL.

If that was a Cowboy player,:espn: would have a 2 hour special on how Jerry Jones, Wade Philips and the Cowboys have lost control.

Roger Goodell is a cowboys hating joke. nothing will happen to this Giants player who could have killed someone.but if it was a cowboys coach or player. the clown would have suspended him at once. Goodell is a disgrace.

It does, but it shouldn't. DUI is about 1000x worse than just smoking MJ in terms of public and personal safety.
