Thank you, Bill Parcells.
What's funny is we are 13th in the ranking. Or just out of the playoff field in this fictional tournament.
Only 9 teams have mustered a cumulative 9-7 record. But only 10 teams have not posted a cumulative 7-9. It's basically an 8-8 league with some outliers.
I'm surprised by the Chargers. They really are the goat underachievers. As are the Eagles and Bears.
B-b-b-but we're the laughingstock of the league and Jerry is the worst GM in the history of management!
We're actually slightly above .500. That's a surprise. Another big surprise is San Francisco at less than .500. They must have had more lean years than I realized. If I were betting big money in Vegas, they would be my pick to win the Super Bowl next year (not who I want to win, but who I think will win).
Shocked me too...not that they seemed bad...but 3rd best? The LT years....
Its 3rd best in the division, is that where you want to be?
There's a tremendous amount of middle ground between "laughingstock" and "where we want to be."
Being back two games means we went into the final game of this NFL mega-season only one game back from the Giants and lost the win and in. I hate that that trend persists even in a fictional season.
Colts - Cowboys superbowl next yr.
that right side, ouch
Is that the scenario where the Cowboys don’t have to bother with the regular season and playoffs and just get a direct pass to the SB?
Which is exactly why I said picking a team to go 8-8 is no evidence at all of football knowledge. It is a statistical probability that given the parity measures of the League a large portion of teams will end up within 1 game of 8-8 either way. In 2013 12 teams finished between 7-9 and 9-7. 11 teams finished above that. 9 below it. You can say 8-8 every year and the odds are you are going to be close more often than not. Predicting a record isn't knowledge, it's luck. No different than throwing the dice. Show me one person anywhere who in 2013 before a single game had been played had Atlanta at 4-12 or anywhere below 8-8. You can't. Same is true for Washington, Minnesota, and Houston by the way. The same people who "knew" the Cowboys were going to be 8-8 in 2013 also were predicting Washington for a long run atop the division and saying we were no longer the best team in Texas.
It's the fantasy land he chooses to live in every year.
Except when the team ends up finishing 8-8.
You know what is really no knowledge? Picking the 8-8 team to win the division every year.
Hey, I have a feeling they'll win the division next year. What say you?
Ah, . . . . . . . . oh so close. We are on the cusp. Another ingredient or two in the secret sauce and we are right there!
I say you're bitter about something that isn't worth the time.
Average is our MO.
