I was in the 4th (maybe 5th) grade when I learned about the Hindenburg disaster. Honestly, I don't remember when I first learned about the Titanic. It had to be close to around the same time I would guess. Probably before the Hindenburg. I learned about that in Advanced Learning class. (ie, the only classes that had computers in Elementary school in the early 80s) It was a learning program on a floppy disk. For the geeks, we had TSR-80s with the BIG 8" floppy disks. :laugh2:

Suddenly forced sterilization seems an attractive alternative to fixing ignorance.

At 12 it's no excuse unless you blame the schools...

This is the most famous maritime wreck in HISTORY... and there's not even a close second...

This is beyond sad. On par to one of our interns thinking the Indians attacked Pearl Harbor. True story.

Ever see Jay Leno's Jay Walking segments? They scare me. My niece was actually on one and was invited back for the Jay Walk All Stars.

I have never stopped giving her grief over how much she did not know.

I did a youth camp for about 10 years... I adopted the Jaywalk thing to show at the end of the conference along with a "memories" segment...

It was maddening as to the lack of knowledge these kids had...

What I don't get is the whole "posting your ignorance on Twitter" part.

It's one thing to be ignorant of a major historical event. It's another thing to be so proud of your ignorance that you want to share it with the world.

I've never tweeted, so maybe I just don't get it... but I don't understand the desire to share every impulse that flits through your brain (good, bad or embarrassing) with the world.

I think the answer has already presented itself. They are stupid. Not only are they so stupid that they didn't know the Titanic was real, they are also too stupid to know they shouldn't put their stupidity on display via twitter.

I don't know if they teach this in school. I was 10 when the movie came out and if it wasn't for that who knows when I would have found out.

My sister years ago when she was in college asked why the Japanese didn't fly a little farther and bomb Florida too. I gave her hell forever.
