Right, no earthly explanation, so those voices Jerry is hearing are probably extraterrestial.

Jones has been grooming Garrett for HC for years.

He's tired and so am I with the coaching carousel in Dallas.

Garrett has the intellect for the job.

    But not the experience.

So Jones is betting that that if they give him good coachs and fresh talent..

Jones is hoping things will turn around.

I think he's right and as a fan..

    I'm hoping he's been right.

Garrett's vulnerable. It's possible the team might quit on him here this season. In that event, obviously he won't be extended. If we're still on course, I think an extension is likely.

Excuse the Green Bay Packers example:

In 1999 Ray Rhodes was selected by Ron Wolf to take over after Mike Holmgren left for Seattle.

Ray Rhodes went 8-8 in his 1st season with the Packers.

GM Ron Wolf in turn fired him.... after 1 season.... for not being good enough.

It's just one data point but I think you could say that things like that are why the Packers have the winningest record in the NFC over the past 20 years and the Cowboys are basically .500.

The point here isn't about the Packers per say, it is about the willingness of a NFL front office to accept reality, not being scared to admit a mistake, and move on quickly.

You and Jerry should be tired of losing, not making the playoffs and failing the final game of the last 3 seasons to earn a playoff birth. The coaching carousel is completely Jerry's doing. If you want stability, don't hire an unemployed college coach who's sitting on his couch in Oklahoma to take over a two time defending SB champion. If you want stability, don't hire the Poodle who wasn't qualified enough to sniff another HC gig. If you want stability, don't hire a yes man in Wade and have your trainee HC waiting in the wings whom you hired before the HC. If you want stability, hire a guy that knows how to make in game adjustments, understands clock management and knows what to do with a second half 20 point lead.

See above. My local HS head coach wouldn't blow a 20 point halftime lead (twice) and have a better understanding of clock management.

Then don't tell yourself that your're sick of the coaching carousel when you hire people that don't have the experience to do the job you hired them for in the first place.

How about a HC that brings in his own assistants that answer to him and implements his own scheme and vision instead of an owner has to give him his assistants? And then we wonder why we have a coaching carousel.

Well, so far he's been wrong. The only hope I have is that I outlive Jerry.

Im remember that. Wish that we had that mentality here in Dallas. Not only with the head coach, but also with players that don't live up to their standards.

Frankly the guy that really needs to be fired is Jerry but that won't happen. Then he hires a coach that nothing more than a puppet. Garrett is not good enough and has already proven that in 3 years. How much more can the fans handle the Dallas circus? No wonder they have such a bad rap as one of the most dysfunctional organizations in sports. They truly are.

Ah yes, the old losers slur who live in the gutters of mediocrity.
Us poor slobs who can't fathom the grand castles lived in by those slur throwers!

Thanks Jerry - no pressure from him. We can find the same quotes from 2012 and 2013... 8-8 baby!

If you're fired after one 8-8 season, it's not because of your record.

Conversely, if you keep your job after three, it's because they're seeing you're doing somethings right.

    This for sure.

    Its not just Garrett.

If the team flames out.. there are quite a few coaches on the staff that have been hired not for some short-term run.

    ..so what happens to them?

No..I think Garrett and this staff are setup for at least 2 years..

which means they get this draft and next years to fix tjhe problems.

It's about ego at this point. The front office won't admit that Garrett was a mistake, because they can sell 8-8.
