Micah Parsons: Definitely a plan in place for my contract

Published February 17, 2025 12:43 PM

Defensive end Micah Parsons wants the Cowboys to be aggressive in free agency this offseason, but new additions to the roster aren’t the only thing on the to-do list in Dallas this offseason.

Parsons is heading into the fifth and final season of his rookie deal, which has made his own contract a talking point around the team for some time. Parsons said last week that he’s had positive dialogue with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about where things are heading on that front.

He's becoming the leader of this team rather some like it or not

He can redeem himself in my eyes by holding out until 1 or 2 IMPACTFUL free agents are signed.

Don’t expect much free agent activity if the plan is to make him the highest paid defensive player in the league. A good percentage of our cap will be on 3 players that haven’t shown up in the playoffs.

I wish we had someone around here that would ask Jerry to share his thoughts

I do hope Micah keeps to his word about not wanting the max amount for his contract. I'm quite sure Jerry & Son are counting on it.

So really he was just talking to a brick wall

Probably the same quote in July

"There’s been no progress yet, but I’m pretty confident that something will happen, so we’ll see.”
Right. If he wants progress, he'll have to push for it because the Joneses have shown that they are OK waiting until the season is about to start.

What good is being a leader when you have a front office that drags things out for months and months
A horrendous FO that gives you no quality FAs, inept coaches, saps morale with every word they speak, signs mediocre players to astronomical contracts...team doesn't need one leader. It needs a new FO.

This is good. I hope they get it done earlier as opposed to later. I don’t think any of us want his contract negotiations to drag out all off season. If they’re going to sign him do it ASAP.

Doesnt mean the players can't do THEIR part. Alot is out of his hands but at least he has the nads to publicly say things like we need to do more

I applaud him and totally agree, but he's saying he wants to get the deal done early we have owners that make their players wait and wait for what reason
