News: Sabin: Jones not averse to Jason Garrett calling plays, but warns 8-8 won’t do

    INDIANAPOLIS — Jerry Jones looked relaxed, sitting in his plush, new bus Saturday as he visited with reporters for nearly two hours. But his appearance didn’t represent the way he feels about the state of the team he owns.

    In reality, Jones is uncomfortable and dissatisfied. The Cowboys have finished 8-8 each of the last two seasons, a period he called the most disappointing he’s experienced since buying the franchise in 1989.

    “There is a lot of resolve here and not a lot of patience with where we are,” Jones said. “We’ve got to start knocking on the door.”

    Seconds later, Jones added that coach Jason Garrett “senses that.”

    For much of the off-season, many have accused Jones of launching a campaign aimed at stripping Garrett’s power. It’s a charge Jones adamantly denied Saturday. Jones said that the six new assistants who have joined the organization since the beginning of the new year were hired by Garrett.
