Chinyoung, Miller to play in HBCU Bowl Posted by PERRYN KEYS | Advocate sportswriter | on December 8, 2010 | 3:10 P.M. http://www.2theadvocate.com/blogs/jaguarnation/111548909.html GAVIN JACKSON/The Advocate Southern center Ramon Chinyoung (61) leads the way for tight end Rashaun Allen against Mississippi Valley State. Ramon Chinyoung and Jordan Miller have one more college football game left. The two Southern seniors will play in the HBCU Bowl in Atlanta on Dec. 18, hoping to catch the eye of NFL scouts and personnel executives. The HBCU Bowl is a college all-star game for black college football players, in the same mold as the Senior Bowl or the East-West Shrine Game. It includes the top 100 draft-eligible seniors from historically black college conferences. Chinyoung was a mainstay on the offensive line, starting at center for four of the past five years. A native of Houston, he was a Class 5A all-state selection as a high school senior at Spring Westfield, despite playing at only 235 pounds. Miller, who grew up in Upper Marlboro, Md., played one year of high school football, then joined the SU program as a walk-on defensive lineman. He eventually grew to 318 pounds and became a force in the middle, leading the Jaguars with nine sacks and 15 tackles for loss.
