Shocked it wasn't Saints RT @AdamSchefter: Raiders have hired Tony Sparano as their assistant head coach/offensive line.

Why not? We haven't had an effective run game since he left.

Looking at his Miami and NYJ tenure, his offenses weren't anything resembling spectacular.

Bad personnel in both places. That's kind of like taking his performance here while Pettiti and Tucker were his tackles and declaring that the guy can't coach offensive line. Or taking our Oline's performance last year and declaring that Callahan is worthless. Obviously in Miami the lack of talent is on him, he was the head man, but with talent the guy gets things done. He innovated enough to get a scrub Miami team to overachieve offensively his first year on the job, and our offense was never better than when he was here - and has continually gotten worse since he left.

Has it, though? In terms of points/possession? What measure are you using to conclude it's gotten worse?

Miami's left tackle was not some shrub.

If Superpunk's words were used to explain some problems in Dallas, they just MIGHT be called excuses.....by some, anyway.

He did it with a gimmick offense that his QB coach came up with more than he did. And the talent and ability levels on our offensive line has gotten progressively worse since he left.
