The NFL scouts show up at practice now and then, and Mason Brodine tries to ignore them.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Nebraska-Kearney defensive end just goes about his business, tearing up the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

"I try to keep this week's game in front of me and after it's over, move on to the next game, but I play like every game is my last -- not like it's a jumping point to the pros or anything else," said Brodine, a senior from Elm Creek (Overton High School).

Brodine paces the defense for the 6-1 and 12th-ranked Lopers.

He started the season as school's all-time sack and tackles-for-loss leader and has added 4 1/2 sacks, six tackles for loss, six quarterback hurries and two blocked kicks this year.

"Mason and Josh Rohde (senior defensive end/tackle from Eddyville) lead our defense, and our defense has been great his year," said UNK coach Darrell Morris.
