If we have one weakness its at center and guard, dont get me wrong I like costa, but will take him time, this way you might be able to move gurode to LOG and hartwig at center; so would you trade crayton for hartwig?

Steelers give Hartwig permission to seek a trade

With rookie Maurkice Pouncey bouncing former starting center Justin Hartwig to the bench, the Steelers are going to try to do with Hartwig what they did with Sean Mahan after Hartwig supplanted Mahan as the starting center.

Per a league source, Hartwig has received permission to seek a trade. If Hartwig can't arrange a trade, he'll reportedly be cut.

So why would a team want to trade for Hartwig when he's going to be cut? At a base salary of $2.08 million for 2010, a team may want to trade for the contract in lieu of having to try to bid against other team(s) for his services on the open market.

I would prefer this over cutting him or a 4th rounder.

Pouncey has looked great this preseason.

I'm glad we got Dez but guys like Pouncey or Earl Thomas wouldve been nice too.

    good call.

he is going to get cut though your not suggesting we trade crayton for him are you.

To me crayton has to be moved for a draft pick. If you want hartwig take out the checkbook and sell him on the team.

but if he wants to be a starter I guess he probably wouldnt want to sign here as a backup.

I would trade Crayton for him. They're going to cut him and were going to cut Crayton most likely. Where is the loss?

I would be drooling if we can trade crayton say for a 3rd or 4th but early 4th, and still get hartwig

then im thinking we can move holland,

just not sold on holland, and i still want to keep costa too

just from the greedy mindset that possibly we could get a pick for crayton and then just sign hartwig when he is released.

the other side of that is hartwig probably wouldnt sign here as a backup and it is a perfect place to trade crayton, good team and out of the conference.

i imagine no matter what is going on with crayton now he is liked here and I am sure they dont want to just dump him on a bad tearm for a conditional pick somewhere so a trade to the steelers would be good for him personally.

i know, but im greedy sometimes; :)

besides what if you told hartwig, you would bump his salary up some, and let hartwig when has offense down and snapping, you would move gurode to LOG and hartwig to center?

I have to admit, I don't know much about Justin Hartwig, care to fill me in ? Would this mean Costa gets bounced ?

I'm not convinced we are going to cut Crayton.

Looking down the road 1 year we are going to need him when we cut Roy.

I think he's more valuable here as a #4 WR then a backup C/G is.

i hope not, i like costa, but will take costa time to get offense down and alittle stronger, etc...

    hartwig might be able to push gurode right away;
