The Browns have good CBs and took one last year at 7. I can't see them going back to back years at CB. I think we're a perfect trade partner with them. I do think the 49ers and Titans are threats, but they are the main two.

This scenario actually has a reasonably high probability. Could be two straight years of moving up in the draft.

Hey, if I got Joe Rod on board ya'll better not stand around.

I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

Another wrench into the argument; let's say PP drops to #9 (not a chance in Hades IMO), but then the Pats call up and offer #17, #28 and their low third.

    What do you do?

You have to throw in Hynoski in the 5th though! :p:

I'd jump all over it, were it to be offered. We could conceivably address all our needs in one draft.

I'd do it in a hearbeat, but that's not going to happen either. The Patriots have Pro Bowler Devin McCourty on one side, just tendered exclusive negotiations rights to Kyle Arrington on the other side, Pro Bowl safety Brandon Meriweather, and promising safety Patrick Chung. Then backing them up promising 2nd year players like CB Darius Butler, S Sergio Brown, and vets like Jarrad Page and James Sanders.

Why would they feel the need to pay such a HUGE price for PP when they don't even need him ?

If theyr'e going to use that much ammunition, they're moving up for somebody in the top 5 and it will be a OLB ( pass rusher ) or DE, but that's not their style either.
