I am a big Notre Dame fan, and was hoping for Stovall on the first day. I was suprised that we selected a TE, but absolutely loved the fact that the TE was Fasano. I watched this guy as closely as anyone last season and can tell you without a shade of a doubt that he can be every bit as good as Witten is. He is basically a Witten clone, a little smaller, but a bit more agile as well. Both are not the best blockers at the TE position, but will prove to be an excellent receiver as both of them improve in the blocking dept. Some thought that maybe we didn't need a TE, but look at it like this, what happens is Witten goes down. We are left with one servicable TE who is new to the system in a system that is moving towards a TE based offense. That won't work. By drafting Fasano, not only does it give us another weapon at the TE position, it helps take some of the pressure off of Witten, gives Witten a break once in a while so he is not burnt out, and covers us either of our other TE's goes down for any length of time. Add to that the fact that I am sure Charlie Wiess called Parcells and told him not to let this guy get by. Parcells trusts Weiss and why shouldn't he. Wiess is one of the best Coaches in the world, and a good friend of Parcells. He knows talent and would not steer us wrong. It makes sense and I for on could not be happier with our draft thus far.
