Tony Romo casually mentions the conversations he’s had with players to ensure they show up for practices during the lockout. He details how the sessions are structured, what the Dallas Cowboys intend to accomplish and praises key veterans who make these coach-less workouts productive.

The Cowboys quarterback is convinced a foundation has been laid that will pay dividends once the sport’s labor issues subside.

I hope many of Romo critics ease up on his role as a leader for me I'm not shocked or surprised by Romo's action I never doubted him as a leader of this team.

I think it's great that the guys are working so hard. The fact that it's a secret location shows that they're not doing it for publicity but because they're committed. It figures Colombo is one of the leaders despite the draft. He certainly is a high character guy.

This kind of work organizing and motivating the team is really going to pay off when the season finally starts.

Over and above the reps and learning the plays, this is CORE team building time.

Romo is proving himself to be a GREAT representative for this storied franchise! We're very lucky to have him as our QB.

Yeah, I don't see how anyone can put a negative spin on this one. Good effort by Romo and crew to put this entire thing together and have so many participants.

"Personally, I think it's more about sharpening skills and getting better," Romo said. "I think the bonding comes from doing that, but for us we could GO BOWLING if we want to do that. But we've got to get better at football and the techniques."

Hmmm, i swear i heard something about bowling from someone around here.

    Good read, thanks

I loved reading that. They have trainers there and Romo believes that the Cowboys are going above and beyond what other teams are doing (although he has no proof of this). I love it and I bet more guys will show up as these practices move on.

The questioning of Tony Romo's leadership qualities is one of the most overblown non-issues of the past decade ... in all sports.

If it were only that easy. You can be assured another issue will crop up for them to question Romo as a leader.

Like I said in another post somewhere.

The Giants led by Eli Manning had 12 players at their team workout.
This was just a passing game workout.

The Jets led by Mark Sanchez had a workout on the west coast for 12 or so players.

So the Cowboys get 40 plus for theirs...

The press in the NYC area is making no big deal about the numbers or lack of numbers that show up for the "Team" workouts.

Interesting that he mentions Columbo as one of the captains.
