What a shocker! Burma hates the UN.
Most people do...with good reason.
Ain't that the truth.
Here's a summary of a recent poll on the UN. http://usforeignpolicy.about.com/od/unitednations/a/unpoll.htm
Seems like most people don't hate the UN.
The UN would be much more effective if we did not undermine it at the same time we finance it.
It's much like our relationships with many foreign states where there is this juxtaposition of our actions and our stated goals.
The UN should handle policing the world and they should handle international disputes... but alas that still seems to be our job--- see current middle east peace meeting.
Or like Republican arguments to dismantle government programs because they are fiscally inefficient and irresponsible.
So its OUR fault the UN is inefficient. What a joke.
What's this OUR problem business, you got a mouse in your pocket?
No No No, it is YOUR fault.
Ineffective? To a degree yes.
We ignore the UN as we feel the need and then go to war when others do the same?
We join its committees and policies as we see fit and ignore those we do not like.
We prop it up one instance then declare it a corrupt useless tool the next.
The US needs the UN to work so we can pull back our level of international intervention to somewhere between sensible and overreaching.
The UN is a waste of money on our part, I would just quit the organization and tell them to pay their own bills...And get the UN out of NY. Won't don't needs the spies and diplomats with "Imunity"
