Cowboys eke out OT victory over Redskins

    By Gary Graves, USA TODAY

LANDOVER, MD. – Just because the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins are on opposite trajectories didn't mean their rivalry couldn't have drama.

There certainly was plenty in Sunday's back-and-forth game that Cowboys kicker Dan Bailey ultimately clinched with a 39-yard field goal at 9:21 of overtime for a 27-24 victory. His kick, which gave Dallas its third consecutive victory, came moments after counterpart Graham Gano missed wide right on a 52-yard attempt that could have capped the Redskins' second rally after Rex Grossman's four-yard touchdown pass to Donte Stallworth with 22 seconds remaining forced overtime.

In between was Tony Romo's clutch play that set it up, a 26-yard pass to Dez Bryant on third-and-15, followed by the Cowboys quarterback's mental lapse that could have jeopardized the field goal attempt when he stood and motioned for a timeout that his team didn't have. That would have resulted in a penalty.
