The big problem is we desperately need a tackle yet there isn't one to take in the top 5.

Best player that fits a need would be petersen.

The possibility of having a high enough pick to get him looks more and more like a reality. Very interesting situation.

    Very interesting situation now.

I guess if you have a shot at a future franchise QB down the road you have to do it.

do what GB did with Rodgers

it will be cheaper next year than 4 or 5 years down the road

    I think the same thing.

If we are in the Top 4, I think you have to look at Patrick Peterson.

If you're gonna keep the pick, you can't force yourself to take an OT out of need if there isn't a prospect worthy to draft there. Although, someone may begin to shine between now and then, none of the consensus top o-line prospects are exciting me at this time.

Some may not realize it, but secondary is a position of need on this team.

Orlando Scandrick has proven repeatedly that he's JAG. Terrance Newman will be 33-years old when the season starts up next year. Finally, who knows what the Cowboys see with Alan Ball or AOA and what position they will ultimately play.

Pat Peterson is once in a decade CB in the mold of Charles Woodson and Champ Bailey. You don't pass up on guys like that.

    Cute.

But then, how do you know Andrew Luck is a franchise QB?

It's time to stop messing around and finally get a quality nose tackle to help out Ratliff. He is great but he's being asked to do too much for a guy that is already undersized for the position. We're asking him to take on 2 blockers like a normal NT as well as beat those two blockers to provide pressure up the middle since he is our best interior lineman? The fact that he has made a nice career playing out of position shows you how good he is and how much better he could be if he got to face 1 blocker regularly.

We need a 330+ lb NT to fill the space in the middle, play Ratliff more at DE where he'll see more 1 on 1 and is free to dominate. So far, the best NT prospect looks like Jerrell Powe from Ole Miss.

The goal is to get stronger and tougher in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. If we can land one as early as the 2nd round, I'd do it. We have to stop being cheap at NT, hoping a JAG like Siavii or Josh Brent pans out. It's not about "depth" it's about finding an anchor to this 3-4, our own version of Casey Hampton, Haloti Ngata, Vince Wilfork.

Ummmmm, that's the problem with 330 pound franchise nose tackles........

    You can only name 3.

There isn't one in this draft. Ratliff is an elite NT that had a bad game like the rest of the D.

Somebody said earlier..........Peterson reminds me of Charles Woodson.

    This, This, This.

Peterson plays like Charles Woodson. He's around #5 in Heisman discussion right now.

Oh speaking of Woodson, I'm still fuming that Jerry didn't go get him as a free agent after the Raiders released him in '06. Could have had Newman and Woodson.

If Peterson isn't there, I might decide to trade back a few spots and garner some picks. Especially if we get in a position that we have to reach.

I would rather get some high quality linemen over defense though, but as was already said, Peterson isn't someone you pass up on. Look how well Bryant is doing for us.
