I guess you’d have to see who’s available and also what the offer is. But just as a base idea what do you think? Part of me thinks there’s no way. Simply bc they probably want a nice name to attach this upcoming season to as a selling point. Liek “look we got Ashton we got a running game now “

You need opportunity to to that, and in this draft its very unlikely. If you trade out, you need to get a 2026 day 1 and change. No one is giving that up for a prospect we will have available

Last time the Cowboys did that they traded their 1st round pick to a crappy Cleveland team that decided to go like 10-6 the following year and gave us the 20th overall pick. I thought for sure that Cleveland pick was going to be a top 5 pick.

Remember the time we had the bills one too?

Don't forget, if the Cowboys traded out of the 1st they could always trade back up into the 1st if they wanted.

It's kind of a wonky way of gaining a draft pick, but the net result could be the same.

If you are talking about moving from 12, the Cowboys better get a haul. That is a long way to move down. I'd have to look at the chart, but I'm guessing it would take a 2 a 3 and a 4 to drop down like that.

The reason I bring this up is bc of the dumb salary cap thing we as fans joyously get to always talk about .

So I’m looking at it liek maybe jsut start getting 2026 picks

And then in 2026 try to get extra 2027 picks etc

I wouldnt call it a rebuild or punting on the season . Just making sure the team stays stocked.

Like what if the pats want to jump up and come away from this draft with 3(hunter) and 12(jeanty)

And they give us 2,3
And a 1 and 2 next year

So now youre hoping they stink and youre able to compete this year while also looking at that pats pick like it’s your chance at a top qb for 2026

basically I’m wondering as a fan how much do I really need a first rounder this year to get excited about? Could I be happy if we came away with future picks and about 3-5 mid rounders

I don't hate the idea, but I'm thinking this will be a draft day with fewer trades than normal. This seems to be a draft more about depth than great players at the top so trade values could be skewed a bit if fewer teams are looking to move up.

We did that in 2007 when we took Spencer

You might wanna take a look at dome of the second round "gems" this team has picked the last 15 years or so.

I'd do that deal, but who'd give us that kind of draft capital to move up?

In a perfect world, say I end up with two early seconds, I would LOVE to get Jihaad Campbell and Tyliek Williams. I bet those guys will make just as much money combined on their second contracts as Walter Nolan will. If not more.

I'm a big fan of trading down instead of reaching. Just as long as you aren't missing out on a player you want just to get an extra pick.

Who do you think is a star player

Mason graham looks like a player we could use

Someone to me he had off the farts hustle and pursuit

They have an opportunity to get an immediate impact player at 12. Why trade out of the 1st round to get a player later who may or may not even start in 2025? Of course it depends on what they are offered I supposed. If they get an extra number 1 next year and multiple picks this year, depending on where they are, maybe it would be worth it. I would imagine a QB would have to drop for anyone to show that kind of interest in Dallas's pick.

I only do this if we get our board wiped clean in rd 1. Otherwise, no way in heck I'm doing it.
