Consideration in the 7th? Prospect Profiles Josh Huston Height: 6-1 Weight: 210 40 Speed: 5.00 E Position: Kicker College: Ohio State Final Grade: I 5.4 GM JR Scouting LLC Grading Scale/Key SUMMARY Huston came through in a big way for the Buckeyes, impressively replacing former All-American and Day 1 draft pick Mike Nugent (N.Y. Jets). He missed time earlier in his career due to knee and hip injuries. He converted a 57-yard field-goal attempt in the team's 2004 spring game. His best asset would seemingly be his ability to convert kickoffs into touchbacks, as 49 of his 70 kickoffs went for touchbacks this past season. However, he did not boom his kickoffs at the Combine -- many of them were of the line-drive variety and lacked ideal hang time. He has shown very good accuracy on his field goals, making 20-of-24 attempts as a senior, but tends to have a lower-than-desired trajectory on some of his longer attempts, which can lead to them being blocked, especially since in the pros you can rush/pressure the snapper. Overall, a solid placekicking prospect with the leg strength and accuracy to be a solid NFL kicker if he continues very good kickoffs and improves his trajectory height.
