I actually have a friend moving to Sendei in July. I would be lying if I said I'm not scared for them.

My stepfather's mother is from Sendei and she has family members that still live there.

I really haven't heard much about it, mainly because I don't want to ask.

    Pretty scary stuff.

I really didn't realize how severe it was until the home footage came out after the fact.

The water just does not stop at all.

Normal for Japanese people in very tight living conditions. Any time families or roommates etc. are crammed in tiny spaces they try to not give communicable diseases. Also just getting around they are jammed in with a ton of people on streets or trains. They are just considerate on things like hygiene.

OMG. That is my nightmare! I'm not even claustophobic. I just hate crowds like that. Someone would get punched in the face if they were pushing on me like that.

There is a significant portion of Japan that was land filled to combat their population density and disposal of garbage.
My guess is this "land" we see moving is landfill that got displaced due to the earthquake.

This is true. I work at the airport and during the Swine Flu scare, but after much of the fears had been nullified, the only people still wearing masks were Japanese... or rather, Asians. Oddly, I saw many wear them with only their mouths covered and their noses free. Very strange.
